A foreign national can apply directly for Russian citizenship if they:
⭐ Have special merits before Russia (science, culture, sports, state service);
⚡ Or their profession/skills are considered of particular interest for the country.

📌 Main Grounds for Rejection of a Russian Citizenship Application

❌ Citizenship will not be granted if a foreign national:

1️⃣ Submits forged documents or false information.
2️⃣ Is banned from entering Russia.
3️⃣ Belongs to one of the following categories:
🔹 Advocates violent change of Russia’s constitutional system or threatens national security.
🔹 Has taken part in armed conflicts (international, interethnic, territorial, etc.).
🔹 Serves in the military, security, or law enforcement bodies of a foreign state (unless allowed by an international treaty).
🔹 Has an unexpunged conviction for intentional crimes in Russia or abroad.
🔹 Or falls under other legal restrictions.

⚠️ Important: Any criminal offense, whether committed in Russia or abroad, may serve as a basis for denial of citizenship.
