General observation: People who are pro-socialism are below average. They are pro-socialism because they directly benefit from it. They're analogous to pro-high-taxes people, who usually have a low income or no income.

The biggest red pill is that most of your "friends" will not be your friends as you climb the ladder of success. They'll start to hate you (out of jealousy) as the distance between you increases and try to sabotage your progress. It is how it is, human nature is human nature.
