Неисповеди́мы судьбы́ Твои́, Го́споди! Неизследимы пути́ Твои́! Но Го́споди, Го́споди! Ты́ то́кмо Еди́н, ве́дый вся́, ве́си, чесо́ ра́ди быва́ет сия́ и чесо́ ра́ди бы́ть, я́ко ра́б Твой (и́мя) во еди́но мгнове́ние о́ка поже́рт бы́сть зиянием сме́рти. А́ще наказу́еши за мно́гая, тя́жкия прегреше́ния его́, мо́лим Тя́, Многоми́лостиве и Всеми́лостиве Го́споди, да не я́ростию Твое́ю обличи́ши его́ и нака́жеши вконе́ц, но, по бла́гости Твое́й и по безприкла́дному Твоему́ милосе́рдию, яви́ ему́ ве́лию ми́лость Твою́ в проще́нии и оставле́нии грехо́в.

А́ще ли же усопший ра́б Тво́й, в житии́ се́м помышля́я Де́нь Су́дный, позна́ свое́ окая́нство и возжела́ принести́ Тебе́ плоды́ достойные покая́ния, но не дости́же сего́, зане́ по́зван бы́сть Тобо́ю в де́нь, его́же не веда, и в ча́с, его́же не жда, того́ у́бо ра́ди па́че мо́лим Тя́, Преблаги́й и Премилосе́рдый Го́споди, несоде́ланное покая́ние, е́же ви́десте о́чи Твои́, и неоконченное де́ло спасе́ния его́ испра́ви, устро́й, соверши́ Твое́ю неизрече́нною бла́гостию и человеколю́бием; еди́ну бо наде́жду и́мамы на Твое́ безконе́чное милосе́рдие: у Тебе́ бо су́д и наказа́ние, у Тебе́ пра́вда и неистощи́мая ми́лость; Ты́ наказу́еши, вку́пе же и ми́луеши; бие́ши, вку́пе же и прие́млеши; приле́жно мо́лим Тя́, Го́споди Бо́же на́ш, не накажи́ внеза́пу позванного к Тебе́ Стра́шным Судо́м Твои́м, но пощади́, пощади́ его́ и не отри́ни от лица́ Твоего́.

О, стра́шно внеза́пу впа́сти в ру́це Твои́, Го́споди, и предста́ти на су́д Тво́й нелицеприя́тный! Стра́шно отъити́ к Тебе́ без благода́тнаго напу́тствия, без Покая́ния и причаще́ния Святы́х Твои́х стра́шных и животворя́щих Та́йн, Го́споди! А́ще внеза́пу усопший приснопомина́емый на́ми ра́б Тво́й толи́ко многогрешен, толи́ко пови́нен е́сть осужде́нию на Твое́м пра́ведном суде́, мо́лим Тя́, умилосе́рдися над ни́м, не осуди́ его́ на ве́чное муче́ние, на ве́чную сме́рть; потерпи́ на́м еще́, да́ждь на́м долготу́ дни́й на́ших, е́же моли́тися Ти́ по вся́ дни́ о усо́пшем ра́бе Твое́м, до́ндеже услы́шиши на́с и прии́меши ми́лостию Твое́ю внеза́пу отше́дшаго к Тебе́; и да́ждь на́м, Влады́ко, омы́ти грехи́ его́ слеза́ми сокруше́ния и воздыханиями на́шими пред Тобо́ю, да не низведе́н бу́дет по грехо́м свои́м на ме́сто муче́ния ра́б Тво́й (и́мя), но да всели́тся в ме́сто упокое́ния.

Ты́ Са́м, Го́споди, повелева́еши ударя́ти в две́ри милосе́рдия Твоего́, мо́лим Тя́ у́бо, Преще́дрый Царю́, и не преста́нем умоля́ти Твое́ милосе́рдие и взыва́ти с ка́ющимся Дави́дом: поми́луй, поми́луй раба́ Твоего́, Бо́же, по вели́цей Твое́й ми́лости.

А́ще же недовольно Ти́ слове́с на́ших, сего́ ма́лаго моле́ния на́шего, умоля́ем Тя́, Го́споди, ве́рою в спаси́тельныя заслуги Твои́, упова́нием на искупительную и чудодейственную си́лу Твоея́ же́ртвы, принесе́нныя Тобо́ю за грехи́ всего́ ми́ра; мо́лим Тя́, о Сладча́йший Иису́се! Ты́ еси́ А́гнец Бо́жий, взе́мляй грехи́ ми́ра, распны́йся ра́ди на́шего спасе́ния! Мо́лим Тя́, я́ко Спаси́теля и Искупи́теля на́шего, спаси́ и поми́луй и ве́чныя му́ки изба́ви ду́шу приснопоминаемаго на́ми внеза́пу усо́пшаго раба́ Твоего́ (и́мя), не оста́ви его́ поги́бнути во ве́ки, но сподо́би дости́гнути ти́хаго приста́нища Твоего́ и упоко́й та́мо, иде́же вси́ святи́и Твои́ упокоева́ются.

LET US PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE KILLED TODAY

Thy mysterious destinies, O Lord! Thy ways are unexplored! Thou givest breath to every creature, and hast brought all things from non-existence to existence, Thou sendest the angel of death to one on a day that knows him not, and an hour that awaits him not; to another Thou snatchest him from the hand of death, and givest him life at his last breath; to another Thou sufferest long and givest time for repentance; to another Thou, like an ear, at once, in the twinkling of an eye, cut him down with the sword of death; Some you strike with thunder and lightning, some you burn with fire, some you give to the forest animals to eat; some you command to be swallowed up by the waves and the abyss of the sea and the abysses of the earth, others you snatch away by deadly diseases, when death, like a reaper who reaps and separates, father or mother from their children, brother from brother, husband from wife, baby from mother's breast, breathlessly casts down the strong of the earth, the rich and the poor. What is this? Wonderful and beyond our comprehension is Your Providence, O God!

But Lord, Lord! Thou alone knowest all things, for what it is and for what it was, when Thy servants, innocently slain today, were swallowed up in death in an instant. If You punish many things, and their sins are grievous, we beseech You, O Many Merciful and All-Merciful Lord, that You may not with Your fury condemn them and punish them irrevocably, but, in Your goodness and in Your incomparable mercy, show them Your great mercy in forgiveness and remission of sins.

But if Thy departed servants who have fallen asleep in this life remembered the Day of Judgment, recognizing their repentance and desiring to bring Thee the fruits of worthy repentance, but did not have time to accomplish this, were called by Thee on a day which they did not know, and at an hour, Therefore we beseech Thee, O most gracious and merciful Lord, that Thy eyes may see their unproduced repentance and the unfinished work of their salvation, and that Thy inexpressible goodness and humanity may mend, arrange, and complete it; We have one hope in Thy infinite mercy: Thou hast judgment and punishment, Thou hast truth and inexhaustible mercy; Thou chastenest, and yet Thou pardonest; Thou beatest, and yet Thou receivest; we beseech Thee diligently, O Lord and our God, not to punish those suddenly called to Thee by Thy terrible judgment, but to pardon, to spare, to spare them, and not to cast them away from Thy countenance.

Oh, it is a fearful thing to suddenly fall into Your hands, O Lord, and to appear before Your unfavorable judgment. It is terrible to appear before You without graceful counseling, without repentance and communion with Your Holy, terrible and life-giving Mysteries, O Lord! If those who have suddenly fallen asleep, Your servants of many sins, who are constantly remembered by us, are guilty of condemnation in Your righteous judgment, we pray You, show mercy to them, do not condemn them to eternal torment, eternal death; bear with us still, give us as many days as possible to pray to You all the days for Your servants, until You hear us and take those who have suddenly departed to You by Your mercy; And grant us, O Lord, to wash away their sins with our tears of repentance and our sighs for their accomplishment before Thee, that because of their sins Thy servants who have been slain today may not be brought down to a place of torment, but that they may dwell in a place of rest.

You Yourself, O Lord, command to knock at the door of Your mercy (see: Mt.7:7), we beseech You, O Most Merciful King, and we do not cease to beg Your mercy and cry with repentant David: Have mercy! Have mercy on Your servants, O God, according to Your great mercy (Psalm 50:1)!

If our prayers and words are not enough for You, after our small prayer, we beseech You, O Lord, by faith in Your saving merits, by trust in the redemptive and miraculous power of Your sacrifice, which You offered for the sins of the whole world; we beseech You, O Most Sweet Jesus! You are the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (see: John 1:29) and is crucified for our salvation. We beseech Thee, our Savior and Redeemer, to save, and have mercy on, and deliver from eternal torment the souls of Thy servants, who are continually commemorated by us suddenly deceased, and do not leave them to perish forever, but allow them to reach Thy quiet resting place, and put them to rest where all Thy saints rest.

Together we beseech Thee, our Lord and God Jesus Christ, with Thy mercy accept all Thy servants who have suddenly fallen to Thee, whether they were covered by water, caught in an earthquake, killed by murderers, caught in a fire, or died of hail, snow, frost, storm, famine, or hunger, or by thunder and lightning, or struck by a deadly disease, or by any other cause of death, according to Your will and permission, we beseech You to receive them under Your mercy and raise them to eternal, holy, and blessed life. Amen. ☦️

PAUL, APOSTLE OF CHRIST
is the story of two men. Luke, as a friend and physician, risks his life when he ventures into the city of Rome to visit Paul, who is held captive in Nero’s darkest, bleakest prison cell. But Nero is determined to rid Rome of Christians, and does not flinch from executing them in the grisliest ways possible.
