⚡️Update: 1 killed, 3 injured in Russia’s missile attack on Kharkiv.

Governor Oleh Syniehubov said that Russia targeted the regional capital Kharkiv late on Jan. 29 with what he called an S-300 missile.

Three civilians were injured and one was killed, according to the governor. The targeted four-story building in the city’s central Kyivskyi district was partially destroyed. First responders have been working on the scene.
⚡️Reuters: Stoltenberg urges South Korea to step up military support for Ukraine.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg urged South Korea to increase military support to Ukraine, citing other countries that have changed their policy of not providing weapons to countries at war after Russia's invasion.
⚡️BBC: Boris Johnson says Putin threatened him with missile strike in run-up to Russia's invasion.

Boris Johnson has said Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened him with a missile strike after he warned the war would be an "utter catastrophe" during a "very long" call in February 2022. Johnson said he warned Putin that invading Ukraine would "lead to Western sanctions and more NATO troops on Russia's borders."
⚡️ISW: Western reluctance to supply Ukraine with higher-end weapons systems limits Kyiv's ability to continue large-scale counteroffensives.

The Institute for the Study of War recently assessed Western discussions of supposed “stalemate” conditions and the difficulty of Ukraine regaining significant portions of its territory. The ISW indicates that it was not just "slow authorization and arrival of aid" that have been limiting Ukraine’s ability to launch continued large-scale counter-offensive operations.
⚡️General Staff: Ukraine repels Russia's attacks near 10 settlements.

Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian troops repelled Russia's attacks near Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast, and Yampolivka, Rozdolivka, Vasiukivka, Paraskoviivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka and Ozarianivka in Donetsk Oblast.

Ukrainian forces launched two attacks on the temporary bases of Russian troops and a strike on Russian anti-aircraft missile systems, the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces reported.
These are the indicative estimates of Russia’s combat losses as of Jan. 30, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
⚡️Russian attacks across 9 Ukrainian oblasts kill 5, injure 13 over past 24 hours.

Russian attacks were reported in Donetsk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Luhansk oblasts in the east, south, and north of Ukraine.

⚡️PM Shmyhal: Ukraine plans to join EU within 2 years.

Ukraine has "a very ambitious plan" to join the European Union within the next two years, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told Politico.

"So we expect that this year, in 2023, we can already have the pre-entry stage of negotiations," Shmyhal said ahead of the EU-Ukraine summit, set to take place in Kyiv on Feb. 3.
⚡️Current weather conditions may complicate Russia's usage of kamikaze drones.

Current windy weather conditions may limit Russia's usage of kamikaze drones for attacking Ukraine in the near future, Natalia Humeniuk, a spokesperson for the Southern Operational Command, said on Jan. 30.
⚡️UK Defense Ministry: Russia doesn't rule out another wave of mobilization.

"The Russian leadership highly likely continues to search for ways to meet the high number of personnel required to resource any future major offensive in Ukraine while minimizing domestic dissent," the U.K. Defense Ministry reported on Jan. 30.

But according to multiple reports, the mobilization in Russia announced on Sept. 21 has never actually stopped, despite claims by the Russian leadership.
⚡️Poland says Ukraine may join EU in several years, but after victory over Russia.

"We really want Ukraine to become a member of the European Union in a few years. It is possible, but only if we allow Ukraine to win this war," Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonski said on television on Jan. 29.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen visited wounded soldiers in a hospital in Mykolaiv, a regional capital in the south of Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with local officials while on a work trip in the southern Ukrainian Mykolaiv Oblast on Jan. 30. The attendees discussed ongoing Russian drone and missile attacks and the reconstruction of the local infratructure in the region.

⚡️President's Office: Poland ready to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighters in coordination with NATO.

Poland is ready to provide Ukraine with long-requested F-16 fighter jets in coordination with NATO, Ukraine's Presidential Office head Andrii Yermak said on Jan. 30.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told reporters that the transfer of any aircraft to Ukraine could happen only in agreement with NATO countries and Poland "will act in full coordination" with its allies.
⚡️NATO chief: North Korea provides Russia with missiles.

North Korea is supplying missiles to Russia for its war against Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin in Seoul on Jan. 29.
⚡️Media: 2 ministers to be dismissed from Ukrainian government.

Ukrainian media outlet Ukrainska Pravda reported on Jan. 30, citing unnamed sources, that the Minister of Youth and Sports, Vadym Gutzeit, and the Minister of Strategic Industries, Pavlo Riabikin, are due to be dismissed in the nearest future.
Prominent 24-year-old pilot killed on combat mission in Donbas

The 299th tactical aviation brigade, named after Lieutenant General Vasyl Nikiforov, announced on Jan. 30 that it had lost one of its best officers, 24-year-old Major Danylo Murashko.

The pilot was killed while on a combat mission in the east of Ukraine on Jan. 27. His plane was shot down by a Russian fighter.

According to the brigade, Murashko tried to divert his aircraft so that it didn't fall on residential buildings in the town of Shabelkivka, Donetsk Oblast. The effort cost him time and made him fly lower, which is why he could not eject safely in the end. Murashko "died like a hero," the brigade said.

Zelensky comes to Mykolaiv with Danish PM, meets with local officials.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen visited Mykolaiv on Jan. 30 under Denmark's patronage of the city's restoration, according to the President's Office.

Two leaders inspected the infrastructure destroyed by Russian attacks and met with wounded Ukrainian servicemen treated in one of the local hospitals.
