Officials from Erbil and Baghdad have reached a final agreement on implementing the ASYCUDA system, according to statements cited by Rûdaw.

Sami Jalal, an advisor to the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Interior, said the system will take into account the region’s legal and administrative framework and operate under the Kurdistan Region’s General Directorate of Customs. Delegations from both sides are set to meet in Erbil on April 12 before traveling to Baghdad to formally sign the agreement.

In a separate statement, Iraq’s Ministry of Finance, led by Tayf Sami, confirmed an agreement to unify customs procedures and implement the system nationwide.

Kurdish will also be added as an official language to the system alongside Arabic and English.
