A senior figure in Sudani’s parliamentary bloc, which now holds more than 50 seats, has reiterated that they will vote for the PUK’s candidate for the Iraqi presidency, Nizar Amedi, and says he now has majority support.

Today, Iraqi parliament speaker Haibat al-Halbousi, from the Taqaddum party, whose bloc holds about 40 seats and also backs the PUK candidate, said the vote to elect the president will go ahead on April 11 and will not be postponed again.

The KDP has been pushing to delay the vote indefinitely until the Kurdish parties reach a consensus or the Iran war subsides and Maliki’s bloc supports this position, but several blocs, including Sudani’s, have rejected that demand.

The Iranian press has provided some explanations about the negotiations with the US through intermediaries.

The intermediary is Pakistan.

The Iranian authorities have stated that they do not want any temporary ceasefire and demand the following:

🔴 A permanent cessation of war in all theatres of military operations in the Middle East, including Lebanon and Gaza, with guarantees;

🔴 The implementation of a new transit protocol that recognizes Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz and allows Iran to impose tariffs;

🔴 The lifting of economic sanctions against Iran.

🔴 The recognition of Iran's right to peaceful uranium enrichment in accordance with its inalienable right under the NPT and the UN Charter.

🔴 Paying reparations for the economic damage suffered during the war.

🇺🇸📞🌞⁉️ — US President Donald Trump says some groups, implying an unknown Iranian Kurdish formation, stole the arms shipments destined for Iranian protesters:

We sent to some guns.
They were supposed to go to the people so they could fight back against these thugs.

The people we sent them to kept them. I am upset with a certain group of people and they will pay a big price.

The Israeli Air Force carried out "intensive strikes" over the past day against key infrastructure of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Tehran, the military says.

The IDF says the targets included a "central site" of the IRGC, "responsible for suppressing the civilian population in Iran"; "key infrastructure" at the IRGC's headquarters; and other "key infrastructure" at the headquarters of the IRGC air force.

The military says IAF aircraft also struck ballistic missile storage and launch sites, and a site used to manufacture air defense systems.

Mojtaba Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran, on Monday described the assassination of senior Iranian commanders as a sign of “despair and failure” by the United States and Israel when confronted directly on the battlefield.

In an official statement, the Iranian leader confirmed the killing of a senior figure within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), identifying him as Brigade Commander Majid Khademi.

Note: Mojtaba Khamenei hasn't made any appearances to confirm that he is actually alive.

Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Directorate:

“at approximately 00:15 on April 7, 2026, a drone launched from Iran struck a civilian home in the village of Zargazawi, within the Darashakran subdistrict on the outskirts of Erbil.

Tragically, the strike claimed the lives of a married couple, Musa Anwar Rasool and Mzhda Asaad Hassan.

This attack represents a clear violation of international law and constitutes a war crime. It is condemned in the strongest possible terms.”
