It mocks the diaspora’s obsession with foreign validation while ignoring the hard work of grassroots organizing. Loud online and celebrated in elite circles, they exist mostly as symbols, absent where action matters.
The lesson is clear. Politics is not a hashtag, retweet, or dinner with powerful patrons. Real influence comes from local roots and sustained organizing, none of which the diaspora has mastered. Until that changes, their words will remain empty and largely irrelevant.

Despite Syrian Presidential Decree No. 13, which formally allows stateless Kurdish citizens to obtain Syrian citizenship, applicants are still required to register as Arab rather than Kurdish when completing the paperwork.
