To further enhance the stability, fairness, and accuracy of the funding rate mechanism in reflecting real market supply and demand, KuCoin Futures will gradually adopt a new funding rate calculation algorithm. The first batch of 140 perpetual contracts is scheduled to be migrated on 08:00 on June 1, 2026 (UTC).

To improve WebSocket connection establishment and authentication efficiency, KuCoin will optimize the PRO WebSocket handshake and authentication flow.

With this optimization, the handshake and authentication stages will be changed from synchronous processing to asynchronous processing, reducing blocking behavior and improving the number of authentication requests that can be processed per unit of time.

In addition, when a WebSocket connection fails authentication due to invalid, expired, or unauthorized credentials, the server will return an “auth failed” message via WebSocket frame, helping clients quickly identify the issue and take appropriate action.

This optimization will not affect successfully authenticated WebSocket connections. We recommend that API users add handling logic for the authentication failure message where applicable.

To improve the API trading experience, enhance trading capabilities under the Unified Trading Account (UTA) framework, and reduce integration complexity across different account modes, KuCoin will upgrade the Pro API and release related API updates.
After the upgrade, the Pro API will be upgraded to the UTA API. Going forward, the UTA API will exclusively support the Unified Trading Account (UTA) mode.

The upgrade is scheduled for 08:00 on June 3, 2026 (UTC) and is expected to last 180 minutes.

Upgrade Impact
During the upgrade period, users may experience the following impacts:
The PRO WebSocket may experience temporary disconnections, data loss, or delays. Users may reconnect to the WebSocket to restore the connection.

Upgrade Details
3.1 UTA API Upgrade
Currently, certain Pro API endpoints are compatible with both Classic Accounts and Unified Trading Accounts (UTA). Moving forward, we will continue to focus on the Unified Trading Account framework and further enhance the UTA API with new capabilities and feature optimizations. Compatibility support related to Classic Accounts will enter maintenance mode and will no longer be the primary focus for future feature development, performance improvements, or long-term platform evolution.

[Adjustment Details]
The Pro API will be upgraded to the UTA API, which will primarily support the Unified Trading Account (UTA) going forward.
Compatibility support related to the Classic Account within UTA API will enter maintenance mode.

If you are currently using the “Pro API + Classic Account” model, we strongly recommend completing one of the following migration options as soon as possible:
Switch to the Unified Trading Account (UTA) mode for trading;
Continue using the Classic API for Classic Account trading.

This will help ensure a smooth migration and uninterrupted trading operations.

3.2 API Upgrades

A new incremental depth streaming mode depth=increment@10ms is introduced (supported for both Spot and Futures).

Compared with the existing depth=increment streaming mode, the new depth streams provide the following improvements:
Streaming mode
Changed from incremental updates to a “snapshot + incremental updates” model.

Depth levels
Depth coverage is adjusted from full order book to 500 levels.

Update frequency
Updates are aggregated and pushed every 10ms instead of real-time pushing.

Depth update logic
For price levels outside the top 500 depth, changes in size will not be pushed.
For price levels within the top 500 depth:
If a price level size becomes 0 due to trades, a message with size = 0 will be pushed for that price.
If a price level is pushed out of the top 500 depth due to order book changes, a message with size = 0 will be pushed for that price.

Migration Instructions
The new depth mode depth=increment@10ms will be officially launched at 08:00 on June 17, 2026 (UTC).
The current UTA API full real-time incremental depth feed depth=increment is expected to be deprecated on 15th July 2026 (UTC). A separate announcement will be issued prior to the deprecation with the exact timing. Please pay attention to updates.
Users are advised to begin migration from June 17, 2026 (UTC).
When subscribing to channel obu, set the parameter depth to increment@10ms, while keeping all other parameters unchanged.
