Knowledge is a prey, and writing is its binding.
فمن الحماقة أنْ تصيدَ غزالةً --- وتفكَّها بين الخلائق طالقهْ
It's from stupidity to hunt a gazelle --- and to release it between the creation untied.
The Shaykh mentioned these lines of poetry tonight in his advice to his students to write down benefits, so one can refer back to it when necessary, because we are not like Imam Ash-Sha'bi, may Allah have mercy upon him, who said:
"I never put black to white".

BENEFIT 73: WHY IT'S BETTER TO TAKE NOTES USING PEN AND PAPER
1- when the Sheikh/teacher/speaker sees you with a pen and paper to hand, he will become motivated and feel at ease knowing that you are taking interest - even if you don't take any notes, whereas if he sees you typing away on your phone he will most likely assume that you are chatting to your friends and taking no interest in what he has to say, although you may have been busy transcribing the whole lecture.
2- writing by hand helps you process information better, remember more, and think faster compared to typing.
3- pen and paper is less distracting. You won't get any messages pinging, to say the least.
4- Paper and pen don't require any charging and are always ready to use. But make sure to carry a spare pen incase you run out of ink.
5- information recorded on paper is less likely to get deleted!!!!
6- paper is virus and malware free
7- Research shows that phone overuse can lead to sleep issues, anxiety and decreased productivity, so becoming accustomed to using pen and paper is a useful solution to help cure smartphone addiction إن شاء الله.
8- paper is healthier for your eyes compared to glaring at a phone screen
9- learn from my mistake; I began typing up some benefits on my phone with the intention of sharing on this channel. Everything was going well until my phone was taken to the 'muhandis'...long story short, I lost all my notes قدر الله وما شاء فعل...hence the delay. But now that I've had some time to gather my thoughts, I've decided to start all over again, albeit with a notebook and pen.
