📚#13 Advice/tip to students of knowledge
✍ Focus on the reality of ilm and not the image of ilm!
قال ابن جوزي رحمه الله رحمه الله
رأيت اكثر الناس مشتغلين بصورة العلم دون فهم حقيقته
ص449 - كتاب صيد الخاطر
Ibn al-Jawzi said:
“I saw most of the people of knowledge preoccupied with the outer appearance of knowledge, rather than the understanding of its reality."
[‘Sayd al-Khatir’; p. 449]
If he is saying this in his time what would he say about the time we live in today?
Many focus more on "looking" like a student of knowledge externally than actually seeking ilm.
And many think knowledge is just retaining information and memorising masa'il, not realising the reality of this knowledge. For example: The one who memorised the Quran thinks that is sufficient and will protect them from these warnings, so, you see such people being relaxed in regards to certain sins! If they truly understood, they would know that the proof against him is greater than it is against the one who has not memorised or recited as much as him!
These people do not understand the meaning of knowledge.
Knowledge is not simply the outer appearance and memorising books and masa'il. Rather, what is desired by it is to understand the intended meanings contained therein and act upon that. This is what implants submissiveness and fear!
حينما ذكر معروف الكرخي في مجلس أحمد قال أحد من حضره: هو قصير العلم يعني: قليل العلم. فقال: أحمد أمسك عافاك الله وهل يراد من العلم إلا ما وصل إليه معروف.
When Ma'ruf al-Karkhi was mentioned in Ahmad's assembly, one of those present said: "He is short on knowledge, meaning: He has little knowledge. Ahmad said: Hold (your tongue), may Allah grant you wellness. Is there anything more to be desired from knowledge than what Ma'ruf has attained? (meaning in his worship and fear of Allah)"
قال عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه «ليس العلم بكثرة الرواية، ولكن العلم الخشية».
Abdullah ibn Masood (May Allah be pleased with him) said "Knowledge is not by a lot of narration. But knowledge is having fear of Allah."

We truly understand the wait can be frustrating and appreciate your patience. It’s important to share that we currently operate without profit. Every penny you spend goes directly into reinvesting in new projects and releases. Despite rising costs of living, we’ve decided to keep our notebooks as affordable as possible. We know understand that students may be on a tight budgets, and we aim to keep our products accessible to everyone.
You may ask: why not raise the price? While it could make things easier, our main goal is to provide students with tools to organise their notes effectively. To move forward, it’s vital for us to sell our current stock before launching new projects and releases.
