Back to School: Primary guidance to support Muslim parents to influence Relationships Education in Primary Schools
Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
We have created a simple guidance document to support your interaction with your child’s primary school. As you know schools have the flexibility to delay the implementation of Relationships Education until the summer term (April 2021). This provides you with the opportunity to influence how and when Relationships Education is taught.
We urge parents to send this guidance document to their child’s primary school head teacher and governing board.
It contains:
1. A clarification of the statutory guidance and consultation requirements
2. Suggested methods to meaningfully consult with parents
3. The Islamic view on sex and relationships, including Muslim parental concerns and suggested solutions
You can find the guidance on our website:
https://www.sreislamic.org/primary-school-guidance/
We will be shortly releasing a guidance for secondary schools insha Allah.
Please make du’a that this is accepted and that it supports parents to engage with schools to protect the Islamic values of their children.
If you can provide a one off or monthly donation, this will help us to provide resources to support parents to raise their children in line with our Islamic values.
