The Most Overlooked Form of Intelligence IQ tests don't guarantee rational judgement. #CriticalThinking https://youtube.com/shorts/eg6ptztk_K8 ----------------------------------------------------- Knowledge Hub UK https://t.me/KnowledgeHubUK
Why High IQ Isn't Enough

Build analytical intelligence by asking:

• What is the central claim?
• What evidence supports it?
• What assumptions must be true for it to work?

Having a high IQ can be beneficial in many ways, but it is not the sole determinant of success in life. In the realm of psychology, research has shown that personal growth and development are just as important as intelligence quotient. Critical thinking, a crucial aspect of personal development, enables individuals to make informed decisions and navigate complex situations effectively. However, self improvement is a continuous process that requires effort and dedication. In this video, we will explore the concept that high IQ isn't enough and that personal development, including the cultivation of critical thinking skills, is essential for achieving success and fulfillment in life. By examining the intersection of psychology and personal growth, we can gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to thrive in today's world.

Blooms taxonomy.pdf
Bloom’s Taxonomy is a hierarchical framework that categorizes learning objectives into six cognitive levels — Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, and Creating — designed to promote higher-order thinking skills.
Developed by Benjamin Bloom, it helps educators structure curriculum, design assessments, and craft learning objectives that move students from foundational knowledge to critical thinking.

The Six Levels of Cognitive Domain (Revised)

The taxonomy is often used to guide students up a ladder of increasing complexity:

Remembering: Recalling facts, terms, and basic concepts (e.g., list, define).

Understanding: Explaining ideas or concepts (e.g., classify, describe).

Applying: Using information in new situations (e.g., implement, use).

Analyzing: Drawing connections among ideas (e.g., differentiate, organize).

Evaluating: Justifying a stand or decision (e.g., critique, judge).

Creating: Producing new or original work (e.g., design, construct).

Applications in Teaching
Curriculum Planning
: Teachers use the levels to ensure a variety of skills are taught, often "spiraling" topics to increase complexity over time.

Learning Objectives: It helps define what students should be able to do, often using action verbs to create measurable goals.

Assessment Design: Teachers design exams and assignments that align with specific cognitive levels, encouraging deeper understanding rather than rote memorization.

Key Aspects

Higher-Order Thinking: The ultimate goal is to move students beyond memorization (bottom levels) to analysis and creation (top levels).
Measurable Verbs: The theory is implemented using specific verbs to define observable actions, such as define, apply, or critique.
Not Strictly Linear: While designed as a hierarchy, modern interpretations acknowledge that learning can be fluid, allowing for navigation between levels based on student needs.

Other Domains
While the cognitive domain is most popular, Bloom also developed a taxonomy for the Affective Domain (emotional growth, attitudes, and values: Receiving, Responding, Valuing, Organization, Characterization).

A final reminder about the advice for Muslims voting in the local elections today.
Knowing a Definition Doesn't Mean You Know the Meaning

1. Write the definition precisely

2. Explain it in simple terms

3. Create examples and non-examples

In this thought-provoking video, we explore the idea that knowing a definition doesn’t necessarily mean you understand the true meaning behind it. Learning is a complex process that involves more than just memorizing definitions and regurgitating them. It requires a deeper understanding of the context, nuances, and implications of the concept being learned. By examining the relationship between definitions and meaning, we can gain a better understanding of how to approach learning in a more effective and meaningful way, leading to a more profound and lasting impact on our knowledge and understanding of the world.
