Eclipses and the Moon
- NASA Science
https://science.nasa.gov/moon/eclipses/
The next penumbral phase for an eclipse visible from London will be the "Blood Moon" total lunar eclipse on September 7–8, 2025. The penumbral eclipse begins at approximately 4:28 PM BST and ends around 9:55 PM BST, but this entire phase occurs before moonrise and is followed by a partial and total eclipse, which are the most visible parts of the event.
What to expect:
Penumbral Eclipse: This is the least noticeable part of the eclipse, where the Moon passes through the Earth's outer, lighter shadow (the penumbra). The change in brightness is very subtle and might be difficult to observe without a clear sky.
Moonrise: The penumbral phase will be entirely before moonrise in London.
Most Visible Event: The more dramatic parts of the eclipse, the partial and total phases, will be visible later in the evening, after the moon has risen.
How to see the penumbral phase (and the subsequent eclipses):
Find a Clear Sky: You will need a clear view of the sky, free from clouds.
Minimize Light: Get away from city lights and ideally find a viewing spot with no obstructions.
Be Patient: Since the penumbral phase is subtle, focus your attention on the brighter, more noticeable partial and total eclipse phases that follow.

Eclipses and the Moon - NASA Science
There are two types of eclipses: lunar and solar. During a lunar eclipse, Earth’s shadow obscures the Moon. In a solar eclipse, the Moon blocks the Sun from view.

Superloop Bus Network
- Transport for London
The Superloop is a network of limited-stop express bus services in London, with specific routes like SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4, SL5, SL6, SL8, and SL10 currently listed on Transport for London (TfL).
Each route is designated by "SL" followed by a number, connecting outer London boroughs more quickly with limited stops.
You can find the detailed route for any specific Superloop bus service on the official Transport for London website by searching for the route number (e.g., SL4).
Here are some examples of Superloop routes:
SL1
: Connects North Finchley Bus Station to Walthamstow Bus Station.
SL2
: Runs between North Woolwich Ferry and Walthamstow Bus Station.
SL3
: Connects Thamesmead Town Centre to Bromley North Station.
SL4
: Connects St Augustine's Church (near Bexleyheath) to Canada Square South / Canary Wharf Station.
SL5
: Connects Bromley North Station to West Croydon Bus Station.
SL6
: Connects Russell Square to West Croydon Bus Station.
SL8
: Runs between White City Bus Station and Uxbridge County Court.
SL10
