One of the problems we have as parents is that we want to treat our children like mini adults.
They are not mini adults. Not when they are 3, 7 or 11.

They are children. Looking for love and acceptance and sometimes that might look like they want to be with you all the time, being "clingy", throwing tantrums because they want to be understood, screamina because thev know nothing else other than scream to express their emotions. I was getting it wrong all along.

We are here to be with them. To hold them when they need to be held and just understand that they are children in a world where they are learning and we are here to teach them.

Just wanted to remind you that if they are wanting to be following you around it's because they feel safe with you and not the other way around

Here are 10 suggestions OLIVER BURKEMAN makes in his book, Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals

1️⃣Adopt a “fixed volume” approach to productivity. We all need to make tough choices about what we can realistically get done, so that we can prioritize the activities that matter most

2️⃣Serialize
Focus only on one big project at a time.

3️⃣Decide in advance what to fail at
You’ll inevitably underachieve at something, simply because your time and energy are finite. But strategic underachievement—nominating in advance areas of your life in which you won’t expect excellence—helps you focus your time and energy more effectively.

4️⃣Focus on what you’ve already completed, not just what’s left to do
One counter-strategy is to keep a “done list,” which starts empty first thing in the morning, but which you can gradually fill in throughout the day as you get things done.

5️⃣Consolidate your caring
Focus your capacity for care, so you don’t burn out. Consciously pick your battles in charity, activism, and politics—and devote your spare time only to those specific causes.

6️⃣Embrace boring and single-purpose technology
Make your devices as boring as possible, removing social media apps and, if you dare, email.

7️⃣Seek out novelty in the mundane

8️⃣ Be a researcher in relationships
When faced with a challenging or boring moment in a relationship, try being curious about the person you’re with, rather than controlling.

9️⃣Cultivate instantaneous generosity
Whenever a generous impulse arises in your mind, give in to it right away rather than putting it off.

🔟 Practice doing nothing
Doing nothing means resisting the urge to manipulate your experience or the people and things in the world around you, and to let things be as they are.

How to organise a school strike:

Gather a group of dedicated parents/teenagers in your area and create a WhatsApp group.
Fill out this Google form and we will try and put you in touch with others in your area.
Pick a central location in your area to have a rally on Friday morning.
Create an announcements WhatsApp group with admin-only posting rights. Add other organisers as admins, and use a join link to share widely so others in the area can join it. Set the group description (template below) with the details of your strike, and use this group to let people know about the details of the strike and to share the resources below.

Fill out this Google form to let us know about your school strike so we can help you with a graphic & poster, advertise it nationally including making a Facebook event for you, put you in touch with local activists and help/advise with anything else.
