This is a free four week introductory course for Understanding Muslim Mental Health. It is aimed at health care
professionals, religious and pastoral leaders, but also for the lay person - service users and their carers/families.

The course was co-produced by Sh Dr Asim Yusuf, Consultant Psychiatrist
(Nur Al-Habib Foundation) and Cardiff University’s Centre for the Study of Islam in the U.K., and features contributions from leading experts, health care professionals, religious scholars and - most importantly - service users.

It is accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists - one of the only independent courses to have received such accreditation.

As London heads for extreme heat in the next few days, some advice

Also keep an eye on keeping young children/babies cool.

How can I stay safe in the heat?

The UK Health Security Agency has some tips:

Look out for those who may struggle to keep cool, such as older people, those with underlying conditions and and those who live alone

Stay cool indoors by closing curtains on rooms that face the sun

Drink plenty of fluids

Don't leave anyone, especially babies, young children and animals, in a locked vehicle

Keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm when the sun's rays are strongest

Keep in the shade, use sunscreen with a high SPF and UVA rating, and wear a wide-brimmed hat

Avoid physical exercise in the hottest part of the day

Take water with you if travelling

Be aware of hidden dangers in rivers and open water if tempted to cool off
