What is the Jackson Hole Symposium?

The Jackson Hole symposium (Economic Policy Symposium) is held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming USA. It is an event attended by the worlds top financial professionals including ministers, bankers and academics. It is a closed event so no press are allowed access to the meetings or talks. Instead, press conferences are held throughout the event where any comments from financial professionals usually move the markets and cause extreme volatility.

Less than £500:

Split your entries and take partial profits along the way until your target is reached. E.g Enter 0.03, when you reach 10-15pips take 0.02 in profit and set the stop to entry, let 0.01 run to the target with the trade protected.

£1000 – 1500
LOT SIZE 0.05-0.07 with a MAX LOTS SIZE OF 0.10 AT ANY GIVEN TIME - You need to pick your trades and pick your entries carefully. £2000+
LOT SIZE 0.05 – 0.15 with a MAX LOT SIZE OF 0.17 AT ANY GIVEN TIME - . Split your entries and take partial profits along the way until your target is reached. E.g Enter 0.07, when you reach 10-15pips take 0.05 in profit and set the stop to entry, let 0.02 run to the target with the trade protected.

Too many traders get stopped out and blow accounts because their lot sizes are too bit. A small reversal on the pair and panic sets in because a high percentage of the account is in drawdown. They take the loss and the market ends up going their way in the end. This is not the way to trade! You will make money but ultimately you will face huge losses on your account. The market is designed to play with your emotions and your greed, you need to use this to your advantage. The only way to protect yourself is money and risk management, it’s a fundamental tool and skill required to trade.

Out of gold now. We had a late session level yesterday 2520 bearish below which traders made the most of. We then had a red box bounce on the 15m boxes giving a move we wanted into 2515 but got 2513. Rejection there isn't looking too great so we'll sit on the side lines. Levels can be tested but a break either side will stretch, 2525 upside, 2495 downside. We're in the middle so here there is no entry

The next few days are going to be a headache to trade. They'll range, they'll whipsaw and they'll chop. The moves are going to be extreme, Jackson Hole has shown movement of 500-700pips in one go, which, if you're caught the wrong side of will completely wipe you out. Please, don't take this as your every day market condition, swings are going to be extreme. In my humble opinion, I would suggest any one new or less experienced in the markets, please don't trade from today until next week. Preserve your account balance and know that once the market has moved, you will get better opportunities from better price points.
