Zahra Nazari was a young Qur’an memorizer and teacher from Mashhad. Her six-member family—consisting of her father, mother, and their four children—had traveled to Tehran to accompany their father for a medical visit and follow-up treatment for his illness.
When the sound of an explosion was heard in the building where they were staying, the children of the family first tried to help their parents exit the apartment. Before all family members had managed to get out, a second explosion occurred and the building collapsed.
Zahra and her older brother, Mohammad-Mahdi, did not emerge alive from beneath the rubble. Their sister Zainab, whose marriage contract had been concluded only two days earlier, suffered severe injuries due to the blast wave.
