☕️ Why "cafetière" in the UK?
Cultural influence: British English often keeps French words for food, drink, and dining (like restaurant, menu, à la carte).

It sounds more refined or continental – British cafés and homes often prefer using terms that sound stylish or European.

French origin: The device was originally designed in France, and “cafetière” literally means “coffee pot”.

🗺 In comparison:
🇬🇧 UK: I’ll make it in the cafetière.
🇺🇸 US: I’ll make it in the French press.

What’s a cleft sentence? 🤔

A cleft sentence is a way to emphasise part of a sentence by splitting it into two clauses. It helps make something stand out more clearly!

For example:
I liked the music. (normal sentence)
➡️ It was the music that I liked. (cleft sentence – focus on “the music”)

Here’s the structure:
It + be + emphasised part + that/who + rest of the sentence
🎯 Use cleft sentences to sound more dramatic or persuasive in writing or speech!

Examples:
It was Jake who called you.
It’s on Monday that we’re flying to Poland.

Try making one! What do you want to emphasise today?

Hello! 👋

A common mistake in pronunciation is the difference between the words ‘cousin’ (children of the siblings of your parents) and ‘cuisine’ (types of national food)

Practice with me by repeating this sentence.

Best of luck! 🔥
