In Modern Ballistic missiles,there are 2 types of "smart" warheads:-

✍️MARV or Manuverable reentry vehicle .These Warheads separate in the outer space and are capable of performing complex manuvers to confuse and out manuver air defense.

🌐MIRV or Multiple Independent reentry vehicles :- This is Newer and more modern/effective technology than MERV inwhich the ballistic missile warhead has multiple Independent autonomously Manuverable vehicles which further increases the already high chances of hit and every single reentry vehicle can hit separate targets.
