Timket, which translates as ‘baptism’, celebrates the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the River Jordan. Ethiopians celebrate this annually with a mass baptism at different waterfronts or sacred pools around the country. Because of its universal value, UNESCO granted timket the status of intangible cultural Heritage in 2019.

'BEGENA'
The box, the pillars, the frame and the frame are made of wood. The networks also work from tendons. The compound is a symbol of God. On the right of the pillars are Saint Michael and on the left Saint Gabriel. The ten cords are a symbol of the ten words of the Torah. The voice box (the chart) is an example of Our Lady (Mary).

Size- 70cm×80cm
Medium- Acrylic painting
Description: The artwork portrays a powerful moment of liberation as a man and a woman take the bold step of bursting out of their comfort zone. The bubble, which represents their safe haven, has kept them confined for far too long. But now, they are ready to break free from the shackles of familiarity and venture into the unknown.
