Human Appeal is looking for "Civil Engineer"

Human Appeal Turkey is a registered humanitarian NGO having its office in Gaziantep. We support the conflict affected Syrian people with our cross border relief and development programmes.
HA Turkey is currently looking to employ a qualified civil engineer on a 1-month full-time contract to support the Education Can’t Wait II Project in Sarmada, Harim district in Syria
The Civil Engineer responsibilities and duties are listed below:
A. Responsibilities
He/She will be responsible to;
· design and supervise small scale construction/rehabilitation works inside Syria.
· manage, plan and forecast the construction/rehabilitation works effectively using necessary tools.
· assess the situation of the schools in terms of access, safety and security which will be rehabilitated, and determine their needs before the rehabilitation.
· assess the situation of schools after the rehabilitation to make sure that all needs have been considered and handled
· be responsible for Supervising of the preparation of child-friendly space for the schools.
· prepare an accurate estimate and determine the scope of the project and analyse any risks associated with the proposed construction.
· use design software to produce renderings, which are images made from two-dimensional and three-dimensional models, in some cases, uses software to create a basic design idea.
· ensure each project complies with relevant zoning laws and other regulations.
· ensure that all materials and services are purchased in accordance with HA and in country procedures.
· perform structural inspection by looking at existing structures for signs of wear and tear or damage and to increase access of the existing project buildings especially for the disabled persons.
· provide a report after finishing of the construction/rehabilitation works.
· perform job related tasks that may be allocated by the line manager time to time.
B. Required qualifications and experience
Qualifications
· University degree in Engineering
Professional experience
· At least 3 years of working experience at a comparable position.
Other knowledge, additional competences
· In-depth knowledge and familiarity with all technical details, devices, machinery and the like regarding construction/rehabilitation
· Good working knowledge of technologies related software and computer applications
· Fluency in Arabic is required and English is an asset
· Ability to work with trustworthiness and integrity
· Outstanding communication skills and ability to master different communication techniques according to various stakeholders
· Excellent organization skills, team-player, self-motivated, strong client orientation
· Demonstrating/safeguarding ethics, integrity and confidentiality
