The actual reason for the Ukraine war is NOT to defend Ukraine, it is to try to damage Russia economically.
That’s why the peace plan was rejected by NATO & Zelensky in March of 22, not because it wasn’t a good deal, but because the U.S. doesn’t want to end the war, it’s a money funneling operation intended to fill pockets of weapons manufacturers & hurt Russia economically.

Yes, but these same Western partners were promising Ukraine future NATO membership, so they clearly have no issue with making a commitment to ensure Ukraine's security.
Therefore, what they clearly did not want was a commitment to ensure Ukraine's security if that meant being "drawn into a negotiation with Russia" that would have ended the Russia-Ukraine war. Why? Because that would negate their actual goal: not defending Ukraine, but using it to weaken Russia.
