Canada is failing Jewish Canadians and the community is being brutally targeted by hate, Prime Minister Mark Carney said Monday.
Carney said across Canada, antisemitism has surged to levels not seen in the post-World War II era. He noted that last year over two-thirds of all religion-motivated hate crimes were directed at Jewish Canadians. Jews make up only 1% of the population. βThe horror and shame are global. Our actions must be local. They start with clearly admitting that Canadaβs civic compact is failing Jewish Canadians,β Carney said at Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto.

Israeli defense exports reached a record $19.2 billion in 2025, marking the fifth consecutive year of growth and a nearly 30% increase from the previous record of $14.8 billion in 2024, according to the Israel Ministry of Defense. The strongest growth came from the Asia-Pacific region, where sales surged to $6.1 billion. Government-to-government deals accounted for more than half of all exports, totaling roughly $10 billion, while 53% of exports came from contracts valued at more than $100 million. Officials credited the increase in part to reforms aimed at streamlining export licensing and expanding the list of approved destination countries.
