The main reason for this is that the MoD had lost almost all of their top special operations professionals, who had left to join Wagner to make much higher pay.
It would be as if Blackwater circa 2005 had just hired 95% of all the Navy Seals, Rangers, Devgru, Delta, etc and left JSOC without men.
It was a major problem.
The paperwork was already drawn up.
Prigozhin concluded that this “coup” maneuver, which only actually made use of a few dozen vehicles half full with men, was the best exist strategy for himself.
It ensured that he got paid out more than $100M to go away and hang out in Belarus, all in exchange for his cooperation in folding his men back into the MoD, which he has faithfully provided. The new contracts from MoD were literally sent out to Prigozhin’s men via AdobeSign, apparently.

This shows why a total immigration moratorium is a completely foolish idea.
