Of course, it’s nice that Coinbase has audited corporate financial statements—but there’s a much bigger underlying issue.
Combining the exchange function with the custody and brokerage function creates inherent conflicts of interest.
They refuse to de-couple these functions because there would be no business model left if they did. Their ability to charge massive transaction fees would erode and would not comport with the sluggish underlying technology that cryptocurrencies are built on.
