There is a concept known as “escalate to de-escalate.”

Outside of Washington DC, most people have probably never even heard of it.

But within the DC power structure, this is the overwhelming consensus view of how the United States should deal with Russia in Ukraine.

The lawyers will be the only winners in all of this.

Isolationists have such an unbelievable level of arrogance. That’s why they aren’t ever taken seriously enough to ever be read-in on the intel. And in the rare instance that they are, the very quickly aren’t isolationists anymore.

This arrogance is what enables so many of their beliefs to be built on complete fallacies. Like the utterly false claim that the US spent “$8 Trillion in the Middle East.”

The GWOT actually only cost about $2.5T. About $250M per year. A total bargain.

In this case, a senior advisor to Ted Cruz refuses to name China and instead uses the “CCP” euphemism because he is so heavily lobbied by Taiwan not to say “China.”

Taiwan lobbies for this because they fancy themselves “the real China.” Very bizarre.
