Sometimes coincidences can be truly interesting.
In 2007, a major medical devices company was formed when Tyco International spun off its healthcare business.
It’s name? Covidean.
It was ultimately acquired by Medtronic for $42.9B in a deal which John Paulson famously profited from with his “merger arbitrage” (*insider trading) strategy.
They’ve done very little business that had anything to do with COVID-19, but the name still strikes a chord with me.
