That’s what school choice advocates claim. Just like busing advocates claimed 50 years ago.

Stanford recently boasted that the school is student body is now only made up of 12% white males. They also said that they rejected more than 70% of applicants who had perfect SAT scores.

Private schools exist because they sell exclusivity. Rich people don’t want their children in school with the unwashed masses.

If everyone can afford to go to private schools because of public subsidies, they’re no longer exclusive, and thus they will raise their prices to remain exclusive (and already have).

Why don’t school choice people understand this?

“School choice” ultimately ends up no different than busing.
