It appears that Russia’s conventional forces are not equipped and trained to operate with night vision. They seem to be 30-40 years behind the US.

“Katie Meyer, a student and captain of the women’s soccer team at Stanford University, was found dead in an on-campus residence, according to university officials on Wednesday.
According to The Stanford Daily, students saw ambulances and law enforcement vehicles arrive at Meyer’s dormitory room at 11 a.m. PST Tuesday.
A cause of death was not given by the university, according to ESPN.”
