Texans don't care about their state enough to keep it. It will be blue by the time Abbott is done doing his dirty work.

If you’ve ever been to Texas, you don’t need an election to show you this.

It’s a half-assed place. It basically looks like Mexico in most ways except the people are far more obese on average. Texas is ruled by those lucky enough to be born into inheritances who have no real competence whatsoever.

Any serious Governor of Texas would seize much of the unused, desolate private land and turn it over to the public to enjoy.
Venezuela demonstrates that even a total economic collapse doesn’t necessarily mean the end of a regime. It may just harden their resolve.

Is there any single method to deploy a unit of cryptocurrency in a way that pays you interest in excess of that unit of cryptocurrency’s maximum plausible depreciation, while actually doing something productive (like being lent out to construct a skyscraper) instead of just being involved in some form of “defi” pyramid scheme?

As far as I can tell, the answer is no. It’s just too volatile. Not just volatile respective to the dollar, but volatile compared to anything.

It seems to be the case that cryptocurrency is only has greater utility than fiat currency for use in criminal enterprises (i.e. ransomware, sanctions evading, drug dealing, etc.)
If you forget the password to access your bank account, you call someone up on the phone and get a new one. If the same were to happen for your cryptocurrency wallet, you would be screwed.

It turns out that custodians have value in the market. That’s why Coinbase has a business. But once you introduce a custodian, bound by KYC regulations and the like, then why bother using the cryptocurrency in the first place?
If you completely destroy the Russian economy, I wonder what the Russian citizens who oversee 6,000 nuclear warheads will do to feed their families? Do we really want to have to worry about loose nukes again?

🇺🇦🇷🇺 Yuriy Lutsenko was so happy to hit the Russian landing ship, but it turned out as always. Idiot.
I’ve still seen zero evidence that the Ukrainians have shot down a single Russian plane.
It it morally wrong to tell peasants in your country to fight this to the death with AK74’s and Molotov Cocktails?

Ghislaine Maxwell retrial juror offered immunity in hearing – plans to plead the 5th

The juror at the center of Ghislaine Maxwell’s retrial bid has been offered immunity by prosecutors six days ahead of his hearing over whether he lied during jury selection.

Maxwell’s lawyers had argued that “Scotty David” created grounds for a retrial having failed to disclose his personal experience of sexual abuse, to which the juror’s lawyer responded by indicating his intention to invoke the 5th amendment.

It appears that Russia’s conventional forces are not equipped and trained to operate with night vision. They seem to be 30-40 years behind the US.
The Detroit field office of the FBI sent a clinically autistic 28 year old computer nerd to Ukraine to try to infiltrate a group of pro-Russian separatists. He was stabbed to death and left in a ditch and the FBI lied to his parents to cover it up. This is a must-read story.
