norse pagan promises are identical to earthly vices as well. gluttony, killing, lust. but christian beatific vision? purely intellectual and spiritual. it trascends earthly vices. can't really bribe folks with contemplation of the divine essence. it's not something biological. confucianism doesn't seem to promise anything at all just to mention it
