Polish regiment sent by Napoleon in 1802 to suppress the Haitian uprising of slaves, quickly realized the actual situation, changed sides and joined Haitians against the French Army. Dessalines - the leader of the revolt and then the first monarch of independent Haiti, called Poles "the White Negroes of Europe" as a brotherly term of solidarity. The surviving Polish soldiers often stayed in the country. The center of Polish Haitian diaspora is in town of Cazale, otherwise known as "La Pologne".

P.S. Germans and Poles were considered black according to the law, granting them equal rights; since no whites were allowed to own land.

Today, with the return of this obsession with ‘rationalising’, there is a tendency to render service to an ideal that is not political but ‘social’ and which belongs to physical comfort, and to marginalise and discredit everything that is comprised of existential tension, heroism and the galvanising force of a myth. But it has been correctly pointed out that a profound crisis is inevitable at the point when prosperity and comfort will finally become boring. The early signs of this crisis are already apparent. They consist of all those forms of blind, anarchic and destructive revolts embraced by a youth that, precisely in the most prosperous nations, notice the absurdity and senselessness of an existence that is socialised, rationalised, materialistic, and dominated by the so-called ‘consumer culture’. In these revolts, this elementary impulse finds no object and, left to itself, becomes barbaric.

Definition: Condemning someone's moral stance by comparing it to one's own moral stance which is, in contrast, superior.

Higher form: Condemning displays of moral superiority complex in someone's attitude toward another, while reminding everyone of one's own moral stance against moral superiority complex. A paradoxical act obviously.

So, no matter how much you quote Dostoevsky when condemning moral superiority complex, by saying for example: “In the dark, we're all the same.” you cannot possibly escape the paradox of taking a morally superior stance against moral superiority.
