🟥 TRUMP HALTS LAST-MINUTE U.S. ATTACK ON IRAN AS FORCES STAND DOWN AND REGIONAL ALERTS REMAIN HIGH
🕑 January 15, 2026 | 7:30 AM
🚫 U.S. strike was reportedly called off at the last minute: Walla military analyst Amir Bohbot reported that U.S. President Donald Trump intervened late last night to prevent an attack on Iran. Iranian airspace has reopened, and assets scrambled from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar were instructed to return to base after the mission was called off and to remain on standby for further orders.
⚠️ Trump has not received assurances that a strike would achieve his stated objective: He has told advisers he would want any action to deliver a decisive blow to the Iranian regime, but advisers have not guaranteed that the regime would quickly collapse after an American military strike, according to a U.S. official and two people familiar with the discussions. Officials also raised concerns that the United States may not have all the regional assets needed to defend against what they expect would be an aggressive Iranian response.
❗️ Officials described alternative courses of action and warned of escalation risk:
"But other options, such as a cyberattack or a strike against Iran’s domestic security apparatus, which is using lethal force against protesters, were more likely, the officials have said. Any attack is at least several days away, and could prompt a vigorous retaliation from Iran, officials said."
‼️ U.S. intelligence expects Iran would retaliate against American bases in the region: Officials briefed on the intelligence said Tehran would likely respond by attacking U.S. military bases, including facilities in Qatar. One official said U.S. agencies also believe Iran could possibly strike U.S. forces stationed at bases in Syria and Iraq.
✈️ Pentagon posture shifted after Trump’s remarks, according to U.S. officials: "But After Mr. Trump's remarks on Wednesday afternoon, the Pentagon was ready to have troops return to Al Udeid base, according to a U.S. military official, who called the president’s comments 'an off-ramp.' Long-range bombers in the US had been put on alert to conduct secondary strikes if needed, but that appeared to have been paused as of Wednesday afternoon, another U.S. official said."
⁉️ Trump said he was told Tehran had stopped killing protesters and that executions were not going ahead:
This was reported alongside Iran reopening its airspace after a closure of nearly five hours.
🌍 The United States is seeking U.N. Security Council engagement as regional consultations continue: "The United States calls for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Iran," al-Jazeera reported. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the two discussed the situation in the region.
🇮🇱 Israel is preparing for the possibility of advance warning before any U.S. action:
Israeli Channel 11 reported that Israel expects to receive several hours’ advance warning before any U.S. attack on Iran.
🚨 U.S. and regional security advisories and flight disruptions were issued: The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem issued a security alert advising that, "given ongoing regional tensions," U.S. citizens should review travel plans in case of disruptions and make decisions for themselves and their families. Qatar Airways canceled all flights to Iran, and the U.S. Department of State advised U.S. personnel in Qatar to exercise caution and limit travel to Al Udeid Air Base.
🛡️ Civil defense steps were reported in multiple Israeli cities: Public bomb shelters were opened in Ra’anana, Ofakim, and Kiryat Gat.
⚠️ Reuters quoted Hezbollah as linking its posture to the scale of impact on Tehran:
"Hezbollah has no plans to act if the attack in Iran is not 'existential' for Tehran," Reuters reported.

🛡️ CLARIFICATION: CLAIMS ABOUT “DEFCON 2–3” IN THE MIDDLE EAST
🕑 January 15, 2026 | 2:00 PM
Reports circulating online claim that large parts of the Middle East are at “DEFCON 3” or even “DEFCON 2.” These claims are misleading and require clarification.
WHAT IS DEFCON? DEFCON (Defense Readiness Condition) is a U.S. military alert system used internally by the United States Armed Forces to indicate how prepared the military is for potential conflict. It has five levels:
- DEFCON 5 – Normal peacetime readiness
- DEFCON 4–3 – Increased military alertness and readiness
- DEFCON 2 – Very high readiness; major conflict considered imminent
- DEFCON 1 – Maximum readiness; nuclear war imminent
CRITICAL CONTEXT: DEFCON is not a civilian warning system, not a global threat scale, and not publicly announced by the U.S. government. Official DEFCON levels are classified.
There is no official or public “DEFCON level” assigned to regions like the Middle East or to individual countries. DEFCON reflects overall U.S. military readiness, not a regional or country-specific status.
Websites and social media posts citing “DEFCON 3” or “DEFCON 2” are offering independent estimates or commentary, often based on open-source indicators such as troop movements, alerts, or diplomatic tensions, not confirmed military declarations.
CURRENT REALITY:
• The U.S. and allied forces are operating under heightened readiness and precautionary measures in parts of the region
• These steps reflect increased alertness, not a formal shift to near-war status
• No authoritative source has confirmed a move to DEFCON 2, which would indicate imminent large-scale conflict
BOTTOM LINE: Heightened regional tension is real. Online DEFCON claims are interpretive, not official. There is no publicly declared DEFCON change and no formal “Middle East DEFCON level.”
Israel Realtime will continue monitoring verified military posture changes and report confirmed developments only.

‼️ ISRAEL ON MAXIMUM ALERT AS U.S. STRIKE ON IRAN IS REPORTEDLY DELAYED BUT STILL EXPECTED
🕑 January 15, 2026 | 4:30 PM
‼️ Israeli readiness and U.S. strike reporting: Israel was placed on maximum alert overnight and prepared for a possible U.S. strike. The Israeli Air Force was activated during the night amid concerns of escalation, but Walla reported the attack was called off at the last minute. Channel 14 reported President Trump has decided a strike will occur, even if delayed by several days.
⚠️ Conflicting messages on U.S. intentions: An Iranian official told Al Jazeera that Trump informed Iran he does not intend to attack. Fox News reported that an Iranian protester will no longer be sentenced to death after President Trump’s warnings, and that others may also be affected. President Trump said: “This is good news. Hopefully, it will continue!”
🔸 Regional pressure and airspace denial claims: Channel 14 reported that Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia played a critical role in calling off the strike overnight. The report said all three opposed escalation and told the White House they would not allow U.S. forces to use their airspace to strike Iranian territory.
❗️ Assessments still point to possible action: Channel 12 reported: “Despite Trump's peaceful statements yesterday, most American assessments this morning still tend to believe that Trump wants to launch a military strike against Iran.”
💰 U.S. Treasury comments on capital outflows from Iran: U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said: “We are seeing the rats flee the sinking ship. We can see tens of millions of dollars being wired out of Iran. The money is being smuggled out by the Iranian leadership, who are abandoning the ship,”.

🎯 IDF ENFORCES CEASEFIRE VIOLATIONS WITH STRIKES IN LEBANON, DEMOLISHES TERRORIST HOME IN HEBRON, AND ADDRESSES SECURITY INCIDENTS IN GAZA
🕑 January 15, 2026 | 5:40 PM
💥 Lebanon: In response to Hezbollah’s repeated violations of the ceasefire understandings, the IDF is striking Hezbollah terror targets in several areas in Lebanon.
🚨 Gaza Envelope: Sirens sounded in Nahal Oz. After an assessment, the incident was determined to be a false identification.
🎯 Southern Gaza Strip: Earlier today, IDF troops identified a terrorist who crossed the Yellow Line and approached the troops, posing an imminent threat to their safety. The troops eliminated the terrorist to remove the threat.
🎯 Additional Incidents in Gaza: In several incidents yesterday in both the southern and northern Gaza Strip, IDF troops identified additional terrorists who crossed the Yellow Line and approached the troops, posing an imminent threat to their safety. The troops eliminated the terrorists.
🔸 Gaza Governance: After the Witkoff announcement, a Hamas official told Reuters: “We are ready to transfer our authority in Gaza to the Palestinian technocratic committee.”
🚑 Northern Gaza Strip: Yesterday, an IDF reserve soldier from the Jerusalem Brigade (16) was severely injured as a result of an accidental discharge. The soldier was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and the family has been notified.
❌ Judea and Samaria: IDF forces from the Judea Brigade demolished the home of terrorist Imran al-Atrash overnight in Hebron. Al-Atrash carried out a combined vehicular-ramming and stabbing attack together with another assailant at the Gush Junction on November 18, 2025, killing Aaron Cohen (of blessed memory) and wounding three additional civilians. The demolition was described as closing the circle in the ongoing effort to combat terrorism.

⚠️ ISRAEL, U.S., AND REGIONAL ACTORS SIGNAL DETERRENCE, READINESS, AND DIPLOMATIC CAUTION AMID HEIGHTENED IRAN TENSIONS
⚠️ Israeli Deterrence Warning: Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen warned Iran against acting against Israel, stating: “I suggest that Iran not think about acting against Israel. We have the capability to strike anywhere in Iran with precision. If they make a mistake, the price they will pay will be very high”.
⚠️ Houthis Raise Alert Level: Amid U.S. threats against Iran, the Houthis described the situation as support for Tehran and said Yemen would not be outside any new regional equation. They announced increased support for Iran, raised their alert level, and conducted missile tests in the Red Sea.
⚠️ Diplomatic Drawdowns and Travel Warnings: The British ambassador to Iran has left the country along with the entire embassy staff. The U.S. Embassy in Israel called on U.S. citizens in Israel, Judea and Samaria, and Gaza to be cautious, prepare in advance, and review travel plans. The United Kingdom advised its citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Israel due to heightened regional tensions. The U.S. Embassy in Doha advised personnel to exercise increased caution and limit non-essential travel to Al Udeid Air Base, with similar guidance issued to U.S. citizens in Qatar.
⚠️ U.S. Strike Deliberations and Constraints: President Trump told his national security team that any U.S. military action against Iran should deliver a “swift and decisive blow” to the Iranian government without triggering a prolonged conflict. His advisers have not been able to guarantee that Iran would quickly collapse after a strike, and officials expressed concern that the U.S. may lack sufficient regional assets to counter an aggressive Iranian response.
⁉️ Comments on Iranian Opposition Figure: President Trump said Reza Pahlavi appears “very nice” but questioned whether he could gain enough support inside Iran to lead the country if the Islamic Republic collapses, adding that acceptance by Iranians would be decisive.
🆘 Iranian Protester Case Update: President Trump shared a Fox News report stating that an Iranian protester would no longer face the death penalty following his public warnings, calling it “good news” and expressing hope it continues. Iran’s judiciary said arrested protester Erfan Soltani has not been sentenced to death and described prior execution reports as “blatantly fabricated by exiled opposition media”.
⚠️ Iranian Accusations of External Coordination: Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh claimed the U.S., Israel, and allied countries formed a coordination center for separatists and terrorists to plan unrest in Iran. He alleged intelligence confirmed joint meetings in a regional country involving U.S. intelligence and Western states to increase funding, accused the U.S. and Israel of directing weapons smuggling and logistical support, and said authorities arrested an individual who received 900 million tomans to kill people during unrest. He detailed alleged payment rates for killings and property destruction, asserting the intent was to create casualties.
⚠️ Regional Basing Disputes and Timing: One reason cited for delays in a possible U.S. strike is a dispute with regional countries including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, which informed Washington they would not allow U.S. Air Force fighter jets to take off from bases on their territory. Despite this, President Trump has reportedly made a decision that a strike will come, even if delayed by several days.
⁉️ U.S. Force Posture Reports
Some reports say that despite evacuations from U.S. bases in the Middle East the previous day, the Pentagon has begun preparing to return troops following President Trump’s remarks signaling a possible withdrawal path. Strategic bombers placed on alert for potential secondary strikes in response to an initial U.S. attack on Iran are now reported to have those plans on hold.

🛡️ ISRAEL MAINTAINS PEAK IDF READINESS AS TRUMP DELAYS BUT KEEPS IRAN STRIKE OPTION ACTIVE, NETANYAHU SEEKS DELAY OVER RETALIATION RISKS, U.S. SANCTIONS IRANIAN OFFICIALS, AND REGIONAL THREATS EXPAND FROM YEMEN TO SOMALIA
🕑 January 15, 2026 | 11:00 PM
🚨 Heightened Alert and IDF Readiness: Israel’s alert level remains very high amid anticipation of potential developments involving Iran. The IDF is entering the weekend with peak readiness across its defense arrays.
⚠️ U.S. Strike Postponed, Not Canceled: The assessment in Israel is that President Trump has postponed, but not canceled, a potential U.S. military strike on Iran. Israeli officials believe the option remains active despite the delay.
🇮🇱 Netanyahu Requests Delay Over Retaliation Concerns: Yesterday, Prime Minister Netanyahu asked President Trump to delay any U.S. strike on Iran due to concerns that Iranian retaliation could target Israel. The request comes amid assessments that Israel has not yet sufficiently replenished its air defense interceptor missile stockpiles.
📌 Uncertainty Inside the U.S. Administration: President Trump is postponing a decision on whether to attack Iran, while the White House conducts internal consultations and engages with U.S. allies over the timing of a potential operation and its likely impact on the Iranian regime, Axios reported. Officials assess that a large-scale U.S. strike is unlikely to topple the government and could trigger a wider regional war, while more limited strikes would not materially change the situation.
In an interview with NBC, Trump declined to say whether he would authorize an attack, stating, “I am not going to tell you that.” Officials say he has ordered U.S. military assets to remain ready and is monitoring how Tehran responds to internal protests before making a decision. Trump also claimed he “saved many lives yesterday in Iran,” underscoring continued uncertainty within the administration and among U.S. allies over the risks of a strike that could provoke significant retaliation.
❗️ Houthi Threats Beyond the Region
Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi stated: “We are serious about targeting any Israeli presence in the land of Somalia — whether a military base or the like. Any fixed Zionist presence that we find accessible to us, we will not hesitate to target militarily.”
🔸 Iraq Rejects Use of Its Territory: The Iraqi government said: “We reject the use of our land or airspace to target any state or to drag Iraq into conflicts that do not serve its people. We call on all parties to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and resolve disputes peacefully.”
💰 New U.S. Sanctions on Iranian Officials: The U.S. Department of the Treasury imposed new sanctions on senior Iranian security officials, including Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and several financial networks, citing their role in suppressing nationwide protests.
🔹 U.S. Push for Israel–Turkey Ties
A U.S. official told Reuters: “We want to see Israel and Turkey start to rebuild their relationship”.

🎯 U.S. SIGNALS MIDDLE EAST FORCE REALIGNMENT AS IRAN DETENTIONS, INTERNET BLACKOUT, AND INTERNATIONAL WARNINGS INTENSIFY
🕑 January 16, 2026 | 11:00 AM
⚠️ U.S. military posture Bret Baier said, “Fox News can tonight confirm military assets are moving toward the Middle East after a recent withdrawal of Navy firepower in the region.”
The Wall Street Journal reported that the main reason for postponing an attack was insufficient American firepower currently positioned in the area.
❗ Iran detentions and execution claims: Iran’s Intelligence Agency said, “We have arrested 3,000 armed rioters in the last few days, and the manhunt is still ongoing.”
Authorities rejected claims that executions have been “halted,” arguing that violence has shifted out of public view, including allegations of killings inside medical facilities. A White House spokesperson warned, “If the killings in Iran continue, there will be serious consequences. All options remain on the table.”
🌐 Nationwide internet blackout: Iran plans to keep its nationwide internet shutdown in place until at least the Iranian New Year, Nowruz, in late March, according to IranWire citing media activists briefed by the government.
Government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani reportedly said access to international online services would not be restored before Nowruz, around March 20. NetBlocks said the blackout has exceeded 180 hours, surpassing the duration of Iran’s 2019 shutdown, with no partial or regional restoration so far. NetBlocks noted that in 2019, the scale of the crackdown became clear only after connectivity was restored. Iran International reported that authorities were in the final stages of rolling out additional measures.
⚠️ U.S. political reactions: Senator Lindsey Graham said headlines claiming “Trump backed down from attacking Iran” were inaccurate. He later tweeted, “All the headlines suggesting that so-called ‘our Arab allies’ intervened on behalf of Iran to avoid decisive military action are very troubling. If the Arab response is ‘no need for action against Iran,’ then there will be a dramatic reconsideration on my part regarding the nature of those alliances now and in the future.”
🇺🇸 President Trump announcement: President Trump said, “It is my Great Honor to announce that THE BOARD OF PEACE has been formed. The Members of the Board will be announced shortly, but I can say with certainty that it is the Greatest and Most Prestigious Board ever assembled at any time, any place.”

Russia's readiness to continue its mediation efforts and to promote constructive dialogue involving all interested states was confirmed. It was agreed to continue contacts at various levels.”
📊 Public Opinion on Iran and Domestic Politics: A Maariv poll found that 70% of Israelis support Israel joining a hypothetical U.S. attack on Iran.

On personal risk, respondents were evenly split, with 46% saying they fear being personally harmed in such a conflict and 46% saying they are not afraid.
On domestic politics, 44% said the Supreme Court should not intervene in decisions related to dismissing cabinet ministers, while 33% said judicial involvement is appropriate.
Party support shifted only modestly, with Likud dipping slightly, Otzma Yehudit and Yesh Atid posting small gains, and the opposition holding a narrow parliamentary majority in the results.

🇺🇸 U.S. announcement on Gaza governance: U.S. President Donald Trump announced the formation of a Peace Council intended to administer Gaza, described publicly as a “Board of Peace.”
The announced members are Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State; Jared Kushner, former adviser to President Trump; Steve Witkoff, U.S. Special Envoy; Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo; Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank; and Robert Gabriel, U.S. National Security Advisor.
❗️ Prime Minister’s Office response: The Prime Minister’s Office said the announcement regarding the composition of Gaza’s governing council, which is subordinate to the peace conference, was not coordinated with Israel and contradicts Israel’s policy.
The PM has instructed the Foreign Minister to raise this matter with the U.S. Secretary of State".
This was described as the first public confrontation with the Trump administration on the matter, following Turkey receiving a seat on the committee.

♟️ TRUMP CALLS FOR LEADERSHIP CHANGE IN IRAN AFTER EXCHANGE OF HOSTILE STATEMENTS WITH SUPREME LEADER; TRUMP ANNOUNCES U.S. TARIFFS ON EUROPE, LINKING GREENLAND TO ARCTIC MISSILE DEFENSE AND GLOBAL SECURITY
🕑 January 17, 2026 | 11:00 PM
🗣️ President Donald Trump publicly called for an end to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s 37-year rule. In remarks to POLITICO, Trump said it is “time to look for new leadership in Iran.”
The comments followed a renewed public clash between Trump and Iran’s leadership. Trump said he made the statement after reviewing a series of hostile public posts from Khamenei, after previously praising Iran for canceling 800 executions, and said Iran then attacked him in response.
Trump directly blamed Khamenei for Iran’s current condition. He accused Khamenei of being responsible for the “complete destruction of his country,” marking one of Trump’s most explicit endorsements to date of leadership change in Tehran.
🧭 President Donald Trump announced new U.S. tariffs on multiple European countries, explicitly tying the measures to negotiations over Greenland and framing the issue as one of U.S. and global national security. The announcement cited Arctic positioning, missile-defense coverage, and strategic competition with China and Russia as the underlying drivers.
Trump linked Greenland to advanced missile-defense architecture, early-warning systems, and global coverage geometry. In U.S. defense planning, Arctic territory is presented as critical to radar reach, intercept angles, and detection timelines for long-range threats.
Israel is not directly involved in the tariffs or negotiations, but the strategic signal carries implications for allies. Israel operates closely with the United States within an integrated missile-defense ecosystem, including Arrow and other layered defense systems developed alongside U.S. doctrine. Shifts in how Washington prioritizes territory, alliance coordination, and global defense architecture can influence the broader defense environment in which Israel operates.
The move has raised concerns in Europe over alliance cohesion and NATO stability. For Israel, which relies on sustained U.S. strategic leadership and predictable coordination with Western partners amid threats from Iran and regional proxies, changes in U.S.–Europe relations and global security posture can matter beyond the immediate issue.

🎯 IDF AND SHIN BET ELIMINATE SENIOR HAMAS AND ISLAMIC JIHAD OPERATIVES IN GAZA AFTER CEASEFIRE VIOLATION, AS IDF ROTATES FORCES AND FOILS DRONE ARMS SMUGGLING INTO ISRAEL
🕑 January 17, 2026 | 11:30 PM
🎯 TARGETED STRIKES IN GAZA FOLLOWING CEASEFIRE VIOLATION
Earlier this week in western Rafah, armed terrorists fired at an armored IDF vehicle in a violation of the ceasefire agreement. In response, the IDF and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) carried out targeted strikes across the Gaza Strip against Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives.
Those eliminated included Muhammad Hamed Muhammad Khuli, commander of Hamas’ Central Camps Operations Department and a long-time leader involved in brigade preparations ahead of the October 7 massacre, who was also responsible for overseeing the 1995 Nahal Oz roadblock attack. Also eliminated were Ashraf Adnan Muhammad al-Khatib, commander of Islamic Jihad’s Rocket and Missile Array in the Central Camps area, and Saeed Khaled Ali Abd al-Rahman, head of sniping in Hamas’ Deir al-Balah Battalion within the Central Camps Brigade.
🎯 ADDITIONAL STRIKE TARGETED ATTEMPT TO REESTABLISH TERROR INFRASTRUCTURE: In a separate strike, the IDF eliminated two Hamas operatives who were attempting to reestablish terror infrastructure sites. The operations degraded Hamas’ ability to plan attacks and threaten IDF forces deployed in the area under the ceasefire agreement.
🪖 16TH BRIGADE COMPLETES MONTH-LONG MISSION IN NORTHERN GAZA: Troops from the IDF’s 16th Brigade, operating under the 252nd Division, completed their sixth combat rotation and a month-long mission east of the Yellow Line in northern Gaza and have concluded their operations in the area. The brigade will be replaced by troops from the 3rd Brigade.
During the mission, the 16th Brigade, in coordination with the Yahalom Unit, dismantled hundreds of terrorist infrastructure sites above and below ground, including weapons, tunnel shafts, and underground tunnel routes used by terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip. The forces also eliminated dozens of terrorists who posed an immediate threat.
⚠️ TWO DRONES SMUGGLING WEAPONS INTO ISRAEL THWARTED: IDF field observers and the Aerial Defense Array identified two drones that crossed from the west into Israeli territory in an attempt to smuggle weapons. IDF troops arrived in the area and thwarted the drones, which were carrying six M-16 rifles, and the weapons were transferred to the Israel Police for further processing.
❌ AL-MUGHAYYIR INCIDENT IN JUDEA AND SAMARIA FOLLOWING DELAYED REPORT: IDF soldiers were dispatched to the Al-Mughayyir area following a report received with a delay regarding terrorists who hurled stones toward Israelis, set tires on fire, and blocked access routes to the area. Upon arrival, dozens of terrorists were identified hurling stones, and one terrorist was identified running toward the soldiers while holding a rock, posing an imminent threat.
The soldiers fired warning shots into the air and then fired to eliminate the terrorist. Forces are continuing searches and establishing roadblocks in the Al-Mughayyir area to locate additional suspects involved in the incident.

🛡️ U.S. AND ISRAEL POSITION MILITARY ASSETS AND MAINTAIN HIGH READINESS AS DIPLOMACY STALLS AND PREPARATIONS ADVANCE FOR POTENTIAL STRIKES ON IRAN
🕑 January 18, 2026 | 9:00 PM
🔶 U.S.-IRAN NEGOTIATIONS AND MILITARY POSTURE: Intelligence sources say U.S. negotiations with Iran are not progressing well. Diplomacy is continuing while military preparations move forward. As of now, there is no indication of an imminent U.S. strike after plans were called off on January 14. Officials assess President Trump is likely to wait until required military assets are fully in place.
🕞PLANNED STRIKES AND DECISION TIMING: At the Pentagon on Wednesday, aides to senior leaders were prepared to stay late into the night in anticipation of U.S. strikes against Iran. At around 3:30 PM, they were told they could go home as normal. Officials told The Washington Post that the President will have another opportunity to sign off on strikes in the next two to three weeks, once U.S. military assets moving toward the region are fully positioned, helping address Israel’s concerns about its own protection. This also confirms that strikes were planned for January 14, as previously reported. On Wednesday, President Trump’s senior security advisers were confident he was close to ordering an attack on Iran.
🇮🇱 ISRAELI ASSESSMENTS AND COORDINATION WITH WASHINGTON: Israel sees a historic opportunity to change the regime in Iran and believes it is necessary to prepare thoroughly for a strike that could lead to the overthrow of the Islamic Republic. Israeli officials warn that a poorly prepared operation would harm U.S. and Israeli interests in the region. Prime Minister Netanyahu requested that an operation against Iran be postponed. Israeli estimates suggest the United States has not backed down from attacking Iran but is waiting for the right moment. Senior American officials told Israel’s Channel 12, “The attack [on Iran] will happen, it’s only a matter of time. The United States is preparing for action.” President Trump told Prime Minister Netanyahu that Israel must be prepared to pay the price for an Iranian response.
⚠️ U.S. FORCE POSTURE IN THE REGION
Estimates indicate the U.S. military buildup in the Middle East is expected to reach its peak within one week. The United States has begun redeploying offensive and defensive weapons to the region in case President Trump orders a strike on Iran.
‼️ IDF READINESS AND AIR DEFENSE PREPARATIONS: The IDF has decided to maintain heightened readiness. It is continuing preparations for a prolonged period of increased air defense posture.
♟️ KEY U.S. DEPLOYMENTS: The aircraft carrier strike group USS Abraham Lincoln is being deployed to the region, alongside additional air defense systems, fighter jets, and possibly submarines. Four U.S. Air Force C-17A cargo aircraft flew from Europe to Diego Garcia Air Base, a key U.S. facility in the Indian Ocean positioned strategically in relation to Iran.
♟️ ALLIED MOVEMENTS: British, French, and German forces have been observed deploying Eurofighter jets to RAF Akrotiri Air Base in Cyprus and to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
⚠️ ISRAELI ASSESSMENT: Israeli officials still believe the United States may strike Iran in the coming days.

⚠️ AIRSPACE WARNINGS, MILITARY ASSET MOVEMENTS, AND DEFENSE READINESS SIGNAL HEIGHTENED IRAN-RELATED TENSIONS ACROSS REGION
🕑 January 18, 2026 | 9:30 AM
✈️ AVIATION SAFETY AND FLIGHT DISRUPTIONS: The European Aviation Safety Agency has advised airlines to avoid operating in Iranian airspace due to heightened alert levels of Iran’s air defense forces and an increased risk of misidentification within Tehran’s flight information region.
Separately, the Lufthansa Group extended the cancellation of overnight flights to and from Israel through January 31, citing the tense regional security situation and concerns over potential escalation involving Iran.
⚠️ IRANIAN WARNING TO THE UNITED STATES: Iran’s Foreign Ministry rejected U.S. State Department claims that Tehran is preparing options to strike American bases, calling the allegations part of escalating tensions. “The U.S. State Department's allegations that we are preparing options to strike American bases are part of escalating tensions. Tehran will respond forcefully to any hostile action, and our forces are determined to maintain and develop their defensive capabilities.”
🛫 U.S. AND ALLIED BASE POSTURE ADJUSTMENTS: The United States and Saudi Arabia have evacuated non-essential aircraft from Prince Sultan Air Base in Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia.
At Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, bombers and strategic aircraft have been withdrawn from the facility.
🇮🇱 ISRAELI AIR FORCE FORCE-BUILDING: Israel is set to receive three additional F-35I Adir stealth fighter jets at Nevatim Air Base today. The delivery will increase the Israeli Air Force’s F-35 fleet to 48 aircraft, as part of a long-term plan to expand the force to 75 jets.
⚖️ IRANIAN EXECUTIONS AND DIPLOMATIC MESSAGING: That posture changed when envoy Steve Witkoff told President Trump that Iran had canceled the executions of 800 people after receiving text messages from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqhchi. President Trump said, “The best decision Khamenei has made in his life was not to carry out the 800 planned executions.” Despite regime denials, reports now say Arfan Soltani, described as the first detained protester, was executed on January 13 as scheduled. Since then, authorities have reportedly blocked his family from visiting him and provided no information on his whereabouts, raising concerns the regime is concealing the execution to avoid international backlash.
❌ ARGENTINA DESIGNATES IRGC QUDS FORCE AS TERRORIST ORGANIZATION: Argentina has designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force as a terrorist organization. “The Quds Force is a division of the IRGC, specializing in training for carrying out terrorist attacks in other countries. The Argentine Republic was a victim of its operations in the 1990s through the attacks on the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires in 1992 and the AMIA Jewish community center in 1994,” according to the decree signed by Argentine President Javier Milei.

🛡️ U.S. REPOSITIONS CARRIER AND AIR ASSETS AS CENTCOM SHIFTS TO 24/7 SUPPORT AMID IRAN TENSIONS, WHILE ISRAEL REPORTS IRAN ESPIONAGE ARREST, OPERATIONS IN SOUTHERN LEBANON
🕑 January 18, 2026 | 4:00 PM
🎯 IDF OPERATIONS IN SOUTHERN LEBANON: Troops from the Multi-Dimensional Unit, operating under the 91st Division, completed a two-month mission in southern Lebanon aimed at preventing Hezbollah entrenchment in the area. The unit focused on intelligence collection, locating enemy infrastructure, directing fire, and assisting ground and aerial forces in dismantling Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure and neutralizing operatives.
🔶 U.S. NAVAL MOVEMENT The USS: Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) has been detected with AIS active as it prepares to enter and transit the Strait of Malacca. The carrier is expected to proceed into the Bay of Bengal and onward to the Indian Ocean.
🔶 U.S. AIR FORCE DEPLOYMENTS: An ongoing U.S. Air Force transport mission is moving fast air assets toward the Middle East. Four KC-135R aerial refueling tankers have been observed deploying from the United Kingdom.

🔶 IRAN PROTESTS AND REGIME RESPONSE: An Iranian source told Reuters: "At least 5,000 have been killed in protests in the country, some of the fiercest clashes occurred in the Kurdish regions in northwestern Iran". Iran’s Chief Prosecutor Ali Salehi dismissed U.S. President Trump's claim that 800 executions in Iran were canceled, calling Trump's remarks "useless and baseless nonsense" and saying Iran’s judicial response to protest-related cases would be "decisive, deterrent, and swift".
