Then he uncovered his hair and raised his hands to the heavens supplicating thus:
“O Allah! Bear witness against these folks that a man who looks most like Your Messenger Muhammad in his physique, manners, and eloquence has come out to fight them! Whenever we missed seeing Your Prophet, we would look at him.
O Allah! Deprive them of the blessings of the earth, create dissension among them, and make them into many parties, and do not let their rulers ever be pleased with them, for they invited us to support us, then they transgressed on us and fought us!”
Then he recited the Qur’anic verse saying,
“Allah surely chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham and the family of Imran over all people, offspring of one another, and Allah is Hearing, Knowing (Qur’an, 3:34).”
آنگاه محاسن خود را به سوي آسمان بلند کرد و فرمود: خدایا تو شاهد باش که شبیه ترین مردم به پیامبرت محمّد صلّی اللّه علیه و آله، از حیث آفرینش و اخلاق و گفتار، به سوي این قوم رفت هرگاه مشتاق میشدیم که پیامبرت را ببینیم به او نگاه می کردیم خدایا برکات زمین را از آنها بگیر، آنها را متفرق و ذلیل بفرما، آنها را در راه هاي پراکنده قرار بده که هرگز والیان از آنها راضی نشوند، آنها ما را دعوت کردند که یاري کنند، سپس بر ما تعدّي کردند و با ما به جنگ پرداختند. پس از آن آیه قرآن را تلاوت فرمود: خداوند آدم و نوح و آل ابراهیم و آل عمران را بر جهانیان برگزید، ذریّه اي که بعضی از بعض دیگرند و خداوند شنواي داناست.(آل عمران34)

He kept charging at their right and left wings, diving in their midst. Whenever a group of fighters met him, he would repulse them, all of them, and whenever a brave man faced him, he would kill him. In his might he resembles the angry lion.
He killed a total of one hundred and twenty warriors. Thirst took its toll on him, so he returned to his father to rest and to complain about suffering from thirst.
Al-Husayn (‘a) wept and said, “O help! How quickly shall you meet your grandfather who will give you a drink after which you shall never suffer of thirst.” He gave him his ring to put in his mouth.
علی اکبر پیوسته بر قسمت راست و چپ لشکر حمله میکرد و تا قلب لشکر فرو میرفت، هیچ سست اراده اي با او مقابله نمیکرد و هیچ شجاعی جلو نمی آمد مگر آنکه او را به هلاکت میرساند. نیروی او مانند شیر خشمگینی بود.
او صد و بیست سواره را به قتل رساند و تشنگی بر او غلبه نمود، نزد پدر بازگشت تا استراحت کند و سختی تشنگی را یادآور شد. حسین علیه السّلام گریست و فرمود: وا غوثاه! به زودي با جدّت ملاقات میکنی و به تو شربتی می نوشاند که بعد از آن هرگز تشنه نخواهی شد، آنگاه انگشتر خود را به وي داد که در دهانش قرار دهد.

‘Ali went back to the battlefield feeling very happy about the good news which he had just heard from the Imam, the Hujjah (‘a), who had told him that he would soon meet his grandfather, the chosen one, peace of Allah be upon him and his progeny.
He, therefore, advanced towards them with courage reminiscent of [his grandfather] Imam ‘Ali (‘a). He met the enemies face-to-face. The latter could not tell whether it was ‘Ali al-Akbar who was chasing the enemy or whether it was the wasi (‘a), roaring like a lion on the battlefield, or whether thunderbolts came emitting in an array from his sword. He kept killing the Kufians till the number of those whom he killed reached fully two hundred.(Maqtal Abd Arrazzaq Al- Moqarram/part martyrdom of Ahl Al-Bayt/Ali Akbar)
علی اکبر علیه السّلام به میدان بازگشت در حالی که از بشارت امام علیه السّلام مسرور بود، به سوي لشکر حمله کرد و غبار را برچهره آنان می نشاند، نمیفهمند که آیا علی اکبر است یا علی بن أبی طالب که در میدان ظاهر شده یا صاعقه است که در برق شمشیرش دیده میشود. او کشته هاي اهل کوفه را زیاد میکند تا آنکه به دویست نفر میرسند.(مقتل مقرم/ روز عاشورا/بخش علی اکبر)

Murrah Ibn Munqith al-’Abdi said, “I shall bear all the sins of the Arabs should I not succeed in causing his father to lose him for good!” He stabbed him with his lance in the back and hit him with his sword on the head, splitting it in half.
‘Ali embraced his horse that carried him to the enemy camp. There, he became the target of their swords, so they cut his body into bits and pieces. He called out saying, “Peace be upon you from me, O father of ‘Abdullah! My grandfather has given me a drink with his own cup after which I shall never suffer any thirst, and he says that there is another one reserved just for you!” (Maqtal Abd Arrazzaq Al- Moqarram/part martyrdom of Ahl Al-Bayt/Ali Akbar)
مره بن منقذ عبدی می گوید: گناه عرب بر من اگر پدرش را به عزایش ننشانم نیزه ای به پشت او می زند و شمشیر را بر سر او فرود می آورد کلاه شکافته می شود، اسب رم می کند و او را به لشکر دشمن می برد. آن ها او را محاصره می کنند و با شمشیر قطعه قطعه می کنند. صدایش را بلند می کند: سلام من بر تو ای ابا عبدالله این جدم رسول خداست و میگوید که یک جام ذخیره شده هم براي تو دارد.(مقتل مقرم/ روز عاشورا/بخش علی اکبر)

Al-Husayn (‘a) came to him and placed his cheek on his as he said, “There is no good in life after you... How dare they defy the most Merciful One, and how dare they violate the sanctity of His Messenger! Hard it is upon your grandfather and father that they cannot respond to you when you call upon them, and that they cannot help you when you ask for their help.”
Then he took a handful of his pure blood and threw it towards the heavens. Not a drop of it fell. He ordered his servants to carry him to the tent. (Maqtal Abd Arrazzaq Al- Moqarram/part martyrdom of Ahl Al-Bayt/Ali Akbar)
حسین علیه السّلام نزد او می آید، صورت بر صورت علی میگذارد و میفرماید: بعد از تو خاك بر سر دنیا، چقدر بر خداي رحمن و هتک حرمت رسول جرئت دارند. بر جدّت و پدرت سخت است که آنها را بخوانی و اجابت نکنند و فریادرسی کنی و به فریادت نرسند. سپس دست خود را از خون طاهر او پر کرد و به آسمان پاشید، یک قطره از آن فرود نیامد! امام علیه السّلام به جوانان دستور میدهند که علی را به خیمه آورند.
