🎦 Husayn: the Revolutionary | When He Calls | pt.4/8

Episode 4 of the ground-breaking new film following the journey of five students as they make their way to the Holy land of Karbala.

Imam Husayn rises up against Yazid making a heroic stand which highlighted for the world’s Muslims that standing up against tyranny is a sacred duty for humanity.

As the students walk, though exhausted, they remember the tragedy of Karbala and ask themselves the question: had they been alive in the time of Imam Husayn, would they have helped him to stand up against Yazid?

This episode also explores the recent history of Iraq, the American invasion and looks at the “Yazids” of today such as the Wahhabi sect, which has hijacked the true message of Islam to spread corruption in Iraq, and the world at large.

As Alastair Crooke rightly said, “You can’t understand ISIS if you don’t know the history of Wahhabism in Saudi Arabia”

What is it about the ancient city of Karbala that captivates Muslims? What makes approximately 30 million people travel there each year?

The ziarat [pilgrimage] to Karbala is considered a sacred journey for Muslims across the world, especially the followers of Ahlulbayt (as).

🎦 Penny-Wise and Pound-Foolish | Biskit

Animated comical series discussing the application of Islamic concepts in modern society.

We see around us a society which has made the dunia its ‘qibla’. Both work and education aim to make progress on a worldly level, rather than for what’s worth much, much more.

And the life of this world is nothing but a sport and a play; and as for the next abode, that most surely is the life” -The Holy Qur’an 29:64

Have we become so busy living the 9-5 lifestyle that we are afraid of breaking out of the box of mundane life? Why are we afraid to step out and explore new realms? Is the life of this world truly worth living in a cage for?

This world with all its murkiness has entangled many of us in its unfruitful production line. The dunia, like the sea only makes us thirstier the more we drink and yet people have become so obsessed with gaining more and more on a material level, they have forgotten to look at the hereafter.

It's like the famous children's story from Aesop's fables: In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.

""Why not come and chat with me,"" said the Grasshopper, ""instead of toiling and moiling in that way?”

""I am helping to lay up food for the winter,"" said the Ant, ""and recommend you to do the same.""

""Why bother about winter?"" said the Grasshopper;
""We have got plenty of food at present."" But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil.

When the winter came the Grasshopper had no food and found itself dying of hunger - while it saw the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer. Then the Grasshopper knew: It is best to prepare for days of need.

In this episode, we discuss how a Muslim must be just like the ant: working hard and preparing for what comes next, regardless of what the grasshoppers of our society might think.

🎦 A student falls sick on the way to Karbala | When He Calls | pt.5/8

Episode 5 of the ground-breaking new film following the journey of five students as they make their way to the Holy land of Karbala.

The journey continues. Due to the harsh weather, the food and the physical exertion, one of the students falls sick and they have barely completed half the walk. Despite their exhaustion from walking all day in the heat of Iraq amongst the bustling crowds, the students manage to rise for their prayers.

Will they be able to continue their journey while one of their friends has fallen ill? Will they leave him behind? Or will the blessings of Allah, for the sake of Imam Husayn, spur them on?

This episode captures the tiresome walk as they students continue on their journey, as well as the profound selflessness of the Iraqi people in their attempts to make the foreign pilgrims feel welcome.

🎦 What is a mowkib? | When He Calls | pt.6/8

Episode 6 of the ground-breaking new film following the journey of five students as they make their way to the Holy land of Karbala.

The journey is nearing its end. The pilgrims are reaching the limits of their efforts and must remind themselves to keep on going. In this state of exhaustion, the students are delighted to find that the people of Iraq are not only providing free food, water and places to stay for the night, but also giving free massages to the pilgrims to ease the tension in their aching muscles out of their love for Imam Husayn [a].

After having found a tent to spend the night in, the students wonder about Imam Husayn. Who was this person who has inspired so many people to make the walk?
