James Connolly believed that in order to be a true internationalist, one must be a true patriot of one's own country (An international nationalism sort of thing) - ie you can't have Socialism without some form of Nationalism
His opponent, prominent trade unionist William Waker of Belfast, was in favour of a continued existence of Ireland as part of Great Britain, saying that Connolly's ideas about Irish freedom and separate independence were "reactionary doctrines alien to any brand of socialism" proclaiming he was an internationalist, stating, "My place of birth was accidental, but my duty to my class is worldwide, hence MY INTERNATIONALISM!"
Tankies are still likes this today lmfao

I wonder how the Connolly Youth Movement is doin-
I'm having a proper read of Connolly's "Labour in Irish History" (I've only really skimmed it) but I have no idea how someone can read this and then join the Connolly Youth Movement lmfao
They 100% have not actually read a thing and just join cause it seems trendy or something

“Ó Cadhain’s politics were ultimately more red than green, and he viewed the Irish language as something that stood in stark contrast to the values of an increasingly materialist Ireland. To him it was the language of the people.” (from here) A detailed account…

Throwback to that time an Irish Tankie and member of the Communist Party of Ireland, Padraic Breslin, went to visit and eventually got citizenship in the Soviet Union only to be sentenced to 8 years detention for "counter-revolutionary agitation" where he was thrown into a gulag and died
He attempted to reclaim his Irish citizenship but this was denied by Éamon de Valera's department of external affairs, citing the Citizenship Act of 1935 LOL

Throwback to Mary Lou and Nigel Farage sharing a platform together against Micheál Martin during the Fiscal Compacy Treaty Referendum in 2012.
Sinn Féin had opposed Ireland entering the EU and opposed every single referendum put forth by the EU onto Ireland since 1973 yet they magically flipped to Europhiles during Brexit. I guess they must have got some advice from someone in the Atlantic Empire to just avoid the Anti-EU talking points. Sinn Féin also used to be a pro-life party according to Martin McGuinness.

1. Lia Fáil plan to end Partition
2. "The Rosary Crusade To End Partition" from Lia Fáil in 1959
Lia Fáil were minor political party and movement in Ireland during the 1950s and 60s, described as a ''far right populist agrarian ideology'' and mostly driven by the party's founder and leader Father John Fahy.
Lia Fáil promised if they ever came to power they would: Make emigration illegal, call on the Irish diaspora, that it would spend £10,000,000 on training an army to defeat "the British Empire" and to use this army to smash partition in Ireland within five years of coming to power. Fahy fantasied in the paper about an Irish air force using nuclear weapons to destroy Northern Ireland and the Orange Order. Jews, Freemasons and Protestants were frequently denounced in the newspaper.
There was also talks about monetary reform, calling Dev Satan and returning to Brehon laws as Fahy claimed they had been supported and blessed by Saint Patrick as being in "perfect consonance" with Christian life
