Rare Achaemenid coin With the face of an Achaemenid king (or satrap) on one side and a winged horse on the other.
There is no inscription on these coins to indicate whose face is depicted, But there are two clues that can guide us to his identification: These coins were minted immediately after the revolt of the Persian satraps in Anatolia, and perhaps the reason for their minting was to show the king's restoration of power over the Anatolian cities.
For this reason, there is a rush in their minting. Unlike the satraps, this person is seen with a special crown on the coin, and it can be understood that he was known enough that there was no need to introduce him in writing.
Therefore, this person is possibly the Achaemenid king “Ardashir (Artaxerxes) II".
