'Some government and business leaders are saying one thing - but doing another'
United Nations chief Antonio Guterres accused governments and businesses on Monday of "lying" about their efforts to stem climate change, seeking to shame them into action as the body released a landmark crisis report.
"Some government and business leaders are saying one thing - but doing another,” the official announced in a video message.
“Simply put, they are lying. And the results will be catastrophic," Guterres continued.

A community knows it can trust prominent members of that community if the community reliably receives and responds to urgent messages from its most marginalized members.
If a community's most marginalized members are ignored or thought not to be part of that community, that community has not earned the trust of its members -- it is eating some of them alive in order to feed others.
It would be hard to trust any community that continued to do this.
A compounding factor is uniquitous environmental neurotoxins, interrupting all living organisms' ability to engage executive function.
So when prominent members of our communities do not respond to urgent requests for conversations about community safety...
...they may be unwittingly suffering the effects of toxic contaminants in their vicinity.
When you dig into the research and talk to people who are most affected, you may (as we did) find the results stark and alarming.
Our community response is successful, however. Emergency mode is a positive, health restoring state.
There is no need for threat alarm; caring action alarm is needed immediately.
When we listen, care, and work together, we find out all the many ways we are already okay.
While we still have terrible problems, we want to get better at working together, listening, and caring.
This is the basis on which we're succeeding.

US Marine Corps Quietly Changes COVID-19 Vaccine Policy
In guidance posted online on Sept. 14, the “Marine Corps will not enforce any order to accept COVID-19 vaccination, administratively separate, or retaliate against Marines in the class for asserting statutory rights under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.”

Garuda, in Hindu mythology, the bird (a kite or an eagle) and the vahana (mount) of the god Vishnu.
In the Rigveda the sun is compared to a bird in its flight across the sky, and an eagle carries the ambrosial soma plant from heaven to earth.
The mythological account of Garuda’s birth in the Mahabharata identifies him as the younger brother of Aruna, the charioteer of the sun god, Surya.
Garuda’s mother, Vinata, mother of the birds, was tricked into becoming the slave of her sister and co-wife, Kadru, mother of the nagas (serpents).
The lasting enmity between the birds, particularly Garuda, and the serpents is attributed to this.
The nagas agreed to release Vinata if Garuda could obtain for them a drink of the elixir of immortality, the amrita, or soma.
Garuda performed that feat, thus giving the snakes the ability to slough off their old skins, and, on his way back from the heavens, he met Vishnu and agreed to serve him as his vehicle and also as his emblem.
