This Intuitive community's PITTSBURGH PERMACULTURE PROJECT continues a-pace!
Just north of Pittsburgh and in many more places we are cultivating locational resourcing to support severely disabled survivors of human trafficking and related violence. In several of our Pennsylvania locations, we are beginning to discover the nourishments growing right here in front of us — and at Mack's location near Fox Chapel, we are delving in the tall grass, watching the weeds wield their wiley wealth and teach us the life-honoring learnings we'd previously been missing.
This work saves lives. Nowhere else have we found evolving infrastructures that truly embrace and include our most severely affected community members. Many have been wastefully excluded from community activities that can rapidly strengthen all our positions, all our collaborations.

We might want to talk about skills too as part of what’s going on. I’m interested to bridge the common (entrained) focus on personal and interpersonal responsibility with understanding the nature of what is being done to whole communities of people and indeed to all of us and the health of the planet for future generations.
Social fabric that includes ppl with awareness, attunement, and communications skills being collectively valued will certainly help us get thru these times.
Fabric which we are certainly building around here!
What is social fabric?
Here’s one human’s definition:
It is a metaphor for how well the community members interact amongst themselves. If you consider all the individual members as threads, the "social fabric" is made by having those members interact, thus weaving the threads together. The tighter the weave (the more frequently and positively the members interact with each other), the stronger the fabric is; the looser the weave, the weaker the fabric, and the more likely to tear (have conflicts that pit one group against another), fray (lose members), develop loose threads (criminals), and otherwise suffer.
Enhancing the social fabric, then, means to provide more and better interactions between members of the community so that they can make more friends, be more involved, be happy, be more willing to help someone when there is a need, and be inspired to keep their village a positive, pleasant place to live.”
So was there more social fabric in the past? Yes….. lots to unpack there at a future moment.
Fir now I want to say broadly that (all of) Our ancestors’ and communities’ Social fabric has been manipulated all along, co-opted and stolen and erased in so many ways. I’ve looked back as far as 600 years ago in Europe so far, and we might all be appropriately horrified to learn how much of what we were raised to think of as normal social structures was ‘installed’ ….
(Again lots to unpack here)
So to jump ahead, nowadays there are layers and layers of terrible things added to our environments, and the situation WE ARE ALL IN TOGETHER is that much more complicated.
Social fabric is extremely important fir us, and I see more and more ppl questioning and reaching for ways to build together. Sometimes it’s saddening or frustrating because most people are missing key information that survivors of severity have discovered and developed, and still most communities are building without making sure to include us.
We work to see that change for the betterment of all Life.
