episode 1 early in the episode she is called to meet lord belleme and there is a sense she knows how dangerous these individuals are

still she is polite and supportive, making simple and neutral statements

how Marion protects her own interests with grace and diplomacy, even with very evil men

she does not threaten them

she COULD

but she DOESN'T

she makes herself protected from them instead, which often looks like treating amicably with them

because that is the requirement for following the rules of the game to exit the game.

I appreciate how they get out of the jail cell despite the person saying "you'll never get out" over and over, as if that person has said to a lot of people "you'd be the first to get out of here" because he's not registering that people are getting out of there. it is like being trapped in the darkness of the unconscious or the shadowbag. it looks terrible and it's upsetting (it was hard for me to watch it because of trauma things about incaarceration) and at the same time, it is the belief that we can't get out that keeps us getting out. if we believe we can get out, we can get out. it might even be simple in comparison to what we expected.

marion is already caught in an autoimmune reaction in her location. she is being hurt by those who are supposed to care for and support her.

she chooses to go somewhere they can't hurt her in the same ways, while setting aside powers and privileges she would rather continue to use to help others.

but the appearance of this wild person with courage and compassion and a sense that there is some resetting of rights and respectfulness in the world

gives her an idea that there is another way.

this is the sacred emergence of the living god in our own selves —- not only marion's love interest or a character in a story. a part of each of our selves (and marion's self, and other's selves).

so that if we know about it, we can honor this sacred masculine, and recognize where we have options we didn't previously notice.
