Q1. How are women and girls with disability at a much higher risk to violence? #SayftyChat https://twitter.com/SayftyCom/status/1110197144021917696?s=19
.
Max:
Fraudulently regulated environmental toxins produce roofie effects in genetically susceptible individuals such as myself. But since the culture lies about the dangers of these toxins, survivors are not believed.
Severe experiencers with compounded, unaddressed traumas are categorized as lost causes or trolls, without discernment for the effects of neurological damage and psychosocial brutality -- and the crucial need for supportive, relationship building community.
Hotlines & helplines typically stay anonymous, which does not allow a trauma survivor to build community relationships with others or repair crucial relationship-oriented parts of the brain.
The so-called mental health industry preys upon its most severe experiencers, who are not even believed by advocates when they say they are harmed by professionals & in hospitals.
Errors, inconsistencies, misleading & inappropriate designations in medical records prevent solutions & exhaust survivors. If she can barely communicate and others don't believe her, how can she ever fight it?
If finally the only people who will help a terrified, exhausted disabled woman are themselves traffickers or wish to take advantage, she is desperate for kindness. She will accept theirs. What happens next?

βWhat if we could change how kids perceive the food ads that they see? So instead of seeing [those ads] as tempting inducements to eat junk food, they serve as reminders of how the food industry is trying to manipulate them and other vulnerable groups.β β¦

How to get teens to give up junk food: Tell them theyβre victims of corporate manipulation
Giving kids a lesson in how the junk food industry engineers food to be addictiveβand how it targets kids in adsβis more effective in improving eating habits than simple nutritional lessons.

Nourishing, supportive, consistent, relationship-building interactions with individuals surviving severe conditions...
π±
...*innoculate* privileged, denial-afflicted ableists...
π±
...against their own unfortunate experiences of destabilizing stress, life-threatening obliviousness, #AbledsAreWeird, confusion, paranoia, & unwitting cruelty.
π±
These nourishing, supportive interactions are essential community medicine -- only available if one treats survivors well + respects disabled & marginalized people.
π±
Without the kindness & respect of this community medicine, unwitting ableists don't understand why their lives are so difficult.
Their world is legitimately falling apart *because* it is disabling to individuals.
π±
#InaccessibilityMeans the community medicine disappears -- not just for disabled people.
#InaccessibilityMeans the community medicine disappears for everybody.
#InaccessibilityMeans we have only scapegoats in its place.
π±
All of this happens only because we lost track of how to care for human beings.
π±
#AccessIsLove helps us remember again.

Othering & exclusion are uncomfortable feelings -- but are eased by a sense of community safety & belonging.
For all people, #AccessIsLove.
π±
#AbledsAreWeird when they inhibit their own functioning, safety, & recovery from hardship.
π±
Able-bodied people feel othered & excluded only because they haven't discovered yet how to extend community to disabled & marginalized people.
π±
That's the antidote.
π±
It's a great antidote.
π±
When we restore + support the community medicine of caring for one another...
π±
...we find that a lot of things are easier than they were before.
π±
Problems are solved more efficiently.
People are able to access their most personally healing, meaningful, & sustaining work.
π±
We feel connection + relief.
π±
This is medicine for communities.
π±
If you want to be free of stress, Abled People, build supportive community relationships with Disabled People.
π±
(What, you didn't think it could be that simple?)
