Max here.

One of the things I love about Lainie Liberti's work is that it maps beautifully onto what is required for the recovery and neurological repair of people of all ages who have experienced neurological violence.

Neurological damage and traumatic brain injury result in parts of the brain being set back to a baby or child state; maybe not the whole brain, in many cases, but parts of the brain's processing that even as an adult may now have to start from scratch and learn again how to make more complex and resilient adult discernments.

When this happens, the way that person's environment "parents" them means everything about whether or not they can get through it to restore their life and livelihood.

The way Lainie describes partnership parenting, worldschooling, and child-rearing altogether are ESSENTIAL comprehension for ANYONE working to recover from brain injury, AND for their loved ones & community members to practice in order to provide effective support.

When I say brain injury or neurological injury, I'm referring to situations of blunt head trauma, yes; and also crucially, injuries from poisoning and other forms of trauma the brain experiences.

For all those with brain and neurological injuries out there who have been told they would never recover fully (or at all)... really, we have felt that it's work like Lainie's, particularly, that is usually missing from the equation.

Considering how widespread and unrealized neurological injury is across populations, EVERYBODY should be reading Lainie's work and supporting her.

Important to note -- Lainie's modalities are also imperative for stopping and preventing human trafficking, which heavily relies upon causing neurological injuries that are invisible, unrecognized, mischaracterized, or that no one believes can be recovered from.

Here's Lainie's conversation with Demi Pietchell at t.me/StarfireCodes --

' This course is an experiential, online course for care workers as broadly defined with an emphasis on mental health/psychology but also including medicine, bodywork and other healing modalities, home and nursing health aides, etc.

Guided by four denials (e.g., denial of systemic violence, denial of unsustainability, denial of entanglement and denial of the magnitude of the challenges) we will focus specifically on how care work and care workers are complicit in each, and how psychology and wellness keep systems like modernity, capitalism and colonialism on life support.

We end each session and the course with gesturing toward a decolonial care work that rekindles our connection with the planetary metabolism rather than individual wellness, transforms our relationship to pain and grief, and supports us in becoming better elders and ancestors to our human and other-than-human relations. ' I’m giving up.

I used to believe, maybe naively, that I could fix the education system.

But over the years, as I’ve dug deeper into society’s issues — why people aren’t following their dreams, why the system has blocked them from even trying…

I’ve come to realise it’s no longer about fixing the education system.

It’s too entrenched, benefiting too many greedy, powerful people, especially universities. It’s a business.

So instead of trying to fix it, we need to create an alternative.

That’s part of my vision for HelpBnk. But I don’t want to do this alone. We need to work together. We need to accept that the education system is broken and say it out loud.

Together, we can find solutions that give people unique, individualised education. Learning that speaks to each person’s talents and interests.

We need to break the mindset that an “A” equals success, or that learning things you don’t love is the only path forward.

We need an education environment that allows people to go deep on what they love, instead of forcing them to study things they don’t enjoy.

Let’s give people a tailored experience, a community, and the support they need to get where they want to go.

That’s what HelpBnk is about. It’s still early days, but I’d love to see more people on HelpBnk, supporting each other and learning what they need, to live the lives they deserve. '

' Theon was headmaster at the Museum of Alexandria, the place dedicated to the Muses, daughters of the ancient goddess of memory, Mnemosyne.
Each of the Muses embodied a "sacred art" such as astronomy, lyric poetry, and history.
The nine daughters of Memory presented a model for the curriculum of the Mystery Schools.
Museums today are merely repositories of relics from the past, but the Alexandrian Museum was the setting for a wide range of living traditions, truly a center of higher education.
The campus spread along the horseshoe-shaped port dominated by its Pharos, the famous four-hundred-foot-high lighthouse that ranked among the Seven Wonders of the World.
It included many independent academies dedicated to subjects as diverse as geometry and sacred dance, and training guilds that produced a constant stream of graduates in fields such as sculpture, botany, navigation, herbology, engineering, and medicine.
The assemblies and guilds associated with the Royal Library had their own libraries and teaching faculties. '
