"One of the core ethics of permaculture is fair share. Those with privilege and power within the permaculture community and beyond must actively seek to restribute their surplus / abundance. Examples of this include mentorship, land reparations, and giving voice to BIPOC practitioners." https://facebook.com/2476002272417424/posts/5673228806028072 β’ https://t.me/s/IntuitivePublicRadio/7367 β’ https://t.me/s/IntuitivePublicRadio/7372 β’Β°`

Taking Permaculture from the gardens to the air waves...

We hope to start airing by 12th April 2021 from Atta Nayece 90.1 FM. We shall be airing from Monday to Friday 7.30am and 7.30pm EAT for 8 weeks. I will be sharing the Radio link through all my facebook groups and pages.

Prologue
Marcelin Munga from Democratic Republic of Congo [Marcello] has lived in the Kakuma refugee camp and found an organization called Farming and Health Education Community Based Organization. He links up with Maurice Obuya CEO Kajulu Hills Eco villages and gets a chance to undergo a remote Permaculture Design Course in May 2020 and later Residential Advance Permaculture Design Course in March 2021. Marcelo starts practicing Permaculture and make a demonstration garden with his Farming and Health Education group. He helps in mentoring his friends Credo [Mlenda Alfoncine Credo] and Julius [Kelelwa Mwandja Julius] also from Democratic Republic of Congo and members of Voices of Disabled People Association to follow suit. Marcelo goes ahead and seeks the help of his group members Hashura [Hashura Kashinde Mangapi from Rwanda] and Yar Dau Deng from South Sudan to reach out to Samuel [Samuel Binja Chimanuka, Democratic Republic of Congo from Kalobeyei Initiative for Better Life] who acknowledges his grasp of Permaculture and walks the journey of learning with him. Finally Marcello is able to help in creation of three demonstration sites at the three organizations and spread knowledge, information and techniques across Kakuma Refugee Camp and the neighboring Turkana Community through Atta Nayece Kilimo Endelevu Radio Programme with Support of Maurice Obuya CEO Kajulu Hills Eco villages, Andronico Otieno CEO Mkulima Sasa and Esekon Jackson from Atta Nayece 90.1 FM Radio.
The eight episodes together is a true story of Marcelo and his Kakuma colleagues. It helps communities to learn the five Ethics of Permaculture and the 18 principles as written by Bill Mollison in his books Permaculture: A Designersβ Manual, Mollison 1988 and Introduction to Permaculture by Mollison and Slay 1992. The episodes follows the logic as and sequence as taught by Mollisonβs immediate principle Assistant Brett Pritchard with the aid of 21 card sets and mind maps with the 3 ethics and 18 principles. We learn in an entertaining or βPermatainmentβ, simple and using understandable Swahili language. Swahili has official language status in Tanzania and Kenya and is also widely spoken in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Comoros Islands. It's also spoken by smaller numbers in Burundi, Rwanda, Northern Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. It is the hope of this project to extend the airing of this Programme to other Radio Stations in these countries and also mobilise funds to produce a TV and YouTube series.
The targeted communities estimated at 300,000 within the reach of Atta Nayece Radio Station will learn through listening to the question, answer and conversational way all through to principle of demonstration at designated farms.
