Paddy's week 2021☘️

Yesterday was #IntForestDay and a few of us finished #paddysweekend with a small community action. Planting spuds (potatos in Ireland), physalis, seeds in an unloved garden box in our bairro. Putting ecological action into the growing #GlobalGreening celebrations for Ireland's national holiday. Traditionally, Paddy's day in Ireland is the day we plant spuds. This action is based on idea that the city can be transformed to a more ecologically functioning entity, the city as forest, where food production increases, while helping combat #climatebreakdown. This little action is an example of #degrowth and #DoughnutEconomics in action.

This action ended a hectic, but very productive and enjoyable week of actions. On #paddysday, Cascais city Council @cascais_oficial invited me to their @_food_lab to eat stew, drink a Guinness and chat about our national day, Irish culture, #GAA and current issues, such as those outlined by @michaeldhiggins2018 for his #StPatricksDay message. Then our @arena_urbana Berlin arena happened on Thr & Fri, with @doughnuteconomics people from Berlin & #donut4berlin, Ireland & #IDEN and various people from the new Portuguese Network. Then a busy week of work with the #regenerativecities Lisbon group.. Also, we got a swim in the ocean, a few beers and got to watch Ireland beat England in the rugby, perhaps an ominous score line, in our first game since implementation of #BREXIT.. It went from 26-6 to 32-18.. 32 is the number of counties in Ireland and points to a reunified island, currently being discussed.

So, an intense few days, but a fine adventure.. A lovely celebration with friends, extending our greening ideas to the wider world.. 🇮🇪
