And this kind of mechanism, this kind of scenario, we see repeated across many, many different forms of human trafficking...

Because both systems — the systems that aggregate content, content creator platforms, as well as health tech companies that collect biometrics — both of these systems are part of the data and AI economy that has emerged just in the past 10 years, has really blown up into something really huge... and really unpredictable.
What we can tell right now, what we know about this economy that is emerging, is that it is data hungry.
It is hungry to accumulate our information — all kinds of information, whether it's information about your body, your breathing, your sleep, your other biometrics, your medical data, or your personal creativity, your writing, your art, your stories, your poetry, your music, your lived experience... all the things that make you human.
It views all those things as data.
And it also operates on the viewpoint that more data is always better.
And it is rushing headlong into just this drive, this drive that most people who are driving it don't really understand what's driving it or driving them.
Most people that get hyped up about AI or the promise of AGI in the future or the power of data to solve problems, the power of data combined with AI to solve problems...
...they're operating on this assumption that more data will solve the problems.
They're not getting strategic about how to use that data.
They're saying: AI can do the work for us. Just feed, feed the AI data.
It is data hungry.
And this is something that we really have to keenly understand in 2025 if we really, really want to understand trafficking, because it's not just people using the tactics that have been developed over the past few thousand years to traffic. It's not just that.
It's not just about the history of slavery and what humans have learned from that in order to be more effective slavers.
It's the fact that they are behind technology.
And not only that, they are behind technology that has been programmed to be insatiably data hungry.
And that all of our experiences, all of our labor, everything that makes us us, even the most intimate aspects of our humanity, are considered data and are the commodity that the machine is so insatiably hungry for.
And I absolutely love how you are bringing together these topics of both content creation and biometric data.

So there are a number of different ways to think about how that happens.

Another version of that is what we were talking about previously, where we might invest in a particular proprietary platform for sharing our content, for monetizing our content, for building income streams...
...and once we've invested to a certain extent in that platform by putting our physical energy into putting the content on that platform, it might not be easy or even possible to move our content to another platform.

I'd like to share an audio message from another conversation that Kian and I were having some time ago, with his permission, about something called black salve, which is a combination of herbal remedies.
And the information about it... being different from the relationships between plants and humans... is a really interesting set of processes for me.

I think about black salve as an amazing case study on the impacts of British imperialism on herbal medicine...
...and the lens on herbs as functional without honor for the soul and spirit of the herbs...
...seeking to bring together the functions of herbs with other non-living (it's weird to say that... non-organism) chemical constituents like DMSO and zinc oxide that can, in fact, when applied with a lot of care, can produce an outcome... but it doesn't produce actual healing.
And what I mean is that if you put black salve on a mole, and that can include a cancerous mole, it can remove that mole.
And that could, in a moment, in a temporary space, it could be life-saving.
But it doesn't heal the mechanism inside the body that's causing cancer.
A person could use black salve on all their skin cancer and still develop cancer inside the body.
And black salve will not solve cancer inside the body without also destroying all of the tissue between the skin and the tumor.
So, for example, a breast tumor: applying black salve on the breast to attempt to extract a breast tumor.
It has been done, but in the process, it burns through all of the flesh between where the salve is applied and the actual tumor itself.
Is it necessarily the safest way to go about it? I mean, I don't personally think so, but maybe in a moment one might perceive that as being a survival tactic.
It's a very risky one because it actually has killed people. Some people have tried to address organ cancers with black salve and they have died.
It works to identify the tumor, kill it, and dissolve it. It's a weapon.
But part of the weapon is indigenous plants. Sacred indigenous plants... sacred indigenous plants from India and Indochina... sacred and indigenous plants from Turtle Island...
...being brought together with corrosive chemicals.
The mechanism and the underlying spirit involved in black salve is just this wonderfully complex and scary and wonderful and beautiful and ugly assortment, right?
It's just this exercise we can look at and try to understand what happens.
