The company filed with the OCC to establish "Builders Bank," an uninsured national trust bank that would custody Bitcoin and stablecoins under federal supervision.
It would not accept deposits or make loans, operating purely as a crypto custody institution.
Block joins Ripple, Circle, BitGo, Fidelity and Paxos in the race for a national trust bank charter, per Bloomberg.

That was 23.4% above the prior day's 723,854, and more than double the 441,035 printed on the same date in 2025.
Galaxy put the reading above the 99th percentile of all daily counts since 2009, without naming a single app or cohort as the cause.
CryptoQuant adds that nearly 80% of 2026 transfers are still under 0.01 BTC.
