I've just realized what I find funny about the AI bit, and it's not possible implication of AI being sentient (unless we consider rocks sentient too, which is another legit way of looking at things and it's called "animism", but I digress...).
The joke here is that humans have tied the essence of living subjectivity to individual's ability to express that subjectivity (language, mostly in form of saying no to stuff) in a specific intelligible form (that aims at being understood by a spherical upper-class human male in vacuum) within the definition of "humanness". I mean, human essence or consciousness is recognized via communication. And now we have a thing, that does it perfectly, sometimes even better than actual humans. Which is stealing our definition (and understanding) of humanness (whatever that is).
