It's been my observation for decades that people who focus on a certain line of theory, whether spiritual, philosophical, scientific, economic, etc, even Biblical, are tempted to overextend and overapply it, as they specialize in it.
That is part of what has been called by occultists, the "law of attraction," and IIRC what God through Diana L. called, the "power of vision" (or envisioning). It becomes like staring into one of Tolkien's Palantirs, or Narcissus' gaze into his reflection in the pond.
God does not endorse man's "name it and claim it."
