The amendments brought in budget today wont b applicable for your taxation paper in May 2019 and Nov 2019 exams. But as i say, its all good to gain knowledge abt whats happening around you.
Would share a short update soon for those who wish to read solely for knowledge purpose
Result date for CA Inter Nov 2018 announced...its 8th Feb 2019.

*Reality behind Tax Exemption limit of Rs. 5 Lakh*

Slab rate of income tax for individuals has been kept same as last year, however rebate under section 87A has been increased from 2,500 to 12,500 for all those individuals resident in India whose total income does not exceeds Rs. 500,000. Income tax upto the income of Rs. 5,00,000/- come to Rs. 12,500. Rebate of same amount has been given in section 87A.

Thus benefit shall not be available to those individuals whose total income exceeds Rs. 5,00,0000 or who is non-resident.

Few days back in our GST class, we had discussed that GST Council has allowed Kerala state to levy an additional calamity cess. Today Kerala has passed its Finance Act in which 'Kerala Flood Cess' has been levied at rate of 1% on all goods having gst rate of 5% or above.
This Cess is applicable only on B2C Intra State supplies (in Kerala) made by a registered person (other than composition dealer)
