The leader of Turkey’s Salafist Furkan Movement, Alparslan Kuytul, attacks Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, formerly known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani, describing him as a “criminal” and an “agent of America.”
Kuytul says that al-Julani received training from the United States, that he was released from prison in Iraq and sent to Syria accompanied by 5,000 jihadists, and he also accuses him of committing massacres against the Iraqi people and killing American soldiers in Iraq.
The spokesperson for ISIS, Abu Hudhaifa al-Ansari, also previously attacked Ahmed al-Sharaa in February in a speech by the organization.
Turkey has long been linked to networks facilitating ISIS movement, recruitment, and financing; the U.S. Treasury documented ISIS financing and recruitment networks operating from Turkey and transferring money and individuals between Turkey, Syria, and Iraq.
